Dodge Viper's lug pattern

I may be the last person to realized this but, I just noticed for the first time that the Viper's wheel have 6 lug nuts. I thought all cars only come in 4 or 5.

How ironic that the GC and Wrangler only has 5 but they put 6 on a car...

When I was a kid, Formula1 cars had 1 hub-centric lug. I don't know if that is still the case....

Also consider what the lugs are made of, and the diameter of them.

also, it's not always the number of lugs, but the spacing as well. a lot of heavier trucks in the 1.5-2 ton class have a 5 lug or 6 lug with really wide spacing(like 8.5 or 10.5 maybe?) the spread the clamping force over a wider area. this is why a 5 on 5.5 lug pattern(like ford and some old jeeps) is really held in a higher regard than a 5 on 4.5 lug pattern(most modern jeeps, most smaller 5 lug axles)
