Cool game capture software

So I was reading last night in one of my PC mags about some software that would capture in game video.
I thought I'd give Fraps a try.

They have a demo that will let you record a game at half size and 15 seconds each.
The registered version lets you take as long a vid as you want to.

I made one Jedi Night Academy vid, and it was 75 mb for 15 seconds.
Then I made 4 Unreal Tournament ones at around 25 mb each.
I guess the higher quality the game, the bigger the file size is.

Fraps can't compress the vids on the fly, so you must use 3rd party software to shrink them down.
I fired up XPs Movie Maker and just imported the vids into it.

The result came out to just a tad over 4 mb.
Please right click, save, then view the vid.

The full version of the software will let you make higher quality ones of course, plus Movie Maker is really compressing them down.

Running the app. when you push a hot key within the game does take a bit of power, as I could notice it slowing down while in video mode.

Still pretty cool though to make a vid of your game.

That sounds cool. One quick question, whats this XP movie maker? I have XP and have never seen a movie maker on here.

The XP Movie Maker is in your Acc. folder, then Entertainment.
There is an update for it too.
Go to your Win Update button on the Start Menu and get version 2 of the player.

To see more examples of what this Movie Maker can do, visit the last run I was on.
http://pnw4runners.com/runs/92703/9272003.htm

There are some vids on there.
The software lets you do real cool stuff such as add text, voice overs, add music, and much more.

One of the vids on there is actually a slide show from pics of that run.
Movie Maker is very cool and easy to use.

Sweet, I found it. Didn't see it in my entertainment folder and got worried. I think I will download that app and make a movie of Cabela's 4X4 game, then I can share my virtual 4 wheeling prowess with you all.

Wish I had the full version of Fraps.
Just got down playing UT for about an hour.
Most awesome game

Even though it came out a few years back, it was way ahead of it's time.
CTF rules in that game, especialy with the bonus packs of new maps you can DL.

Vato Loco, try looking under All programs > accessories, don't go into the "entertainment" part. Its called windows movie maker. That's where I found mine.
