Chrysler Pacifica Rated Top SUV...is it an SUV?

The NTSB rated it the top 4X4 SUV in roll-over tests. I thought it was just a glorified mini-van/station wagon.

Andy, I can see the handwriting on the wall. Its only a matter of time before people call everything with a fold down seat a SUV. I just googled it so you can see for yourself. Google Dodge Magnum

Sport Utility Vehicle, where does that say it has to be a truck where walkin a very thin line here fellas and SUV sounds better to the public then buy this car based minivan/wagon

The same can be said about a BMW 3 series, is it a sports car yes but then isn't a Porsche a sports car

I like how they call them 'utes' overseas.
I hate saying SUV.

Its not the first time... The PT Loser is considered a "truck" so that Dodge could get their MPG average across the board to an acceptable level. That thing is nothing but a dodge neon with some lame metal thrown over it to disguise it.

Having said that, I would take a Chrysler Crossfire anyday.

The Porsche Cayenne at least can truly be driven off road as opposed to the BMW but would you off road it?

Did you guys catch the #1 rollover vehicle? The 2wd Ford Explorer,35% chance of rollover.

GM is also recalling over a quarter million Saturn Vues because it couldn't complete the test due to it's suspension bars breaking during the test.

My friend is obsessed with her Touareg. It has the variable suspension heights, but as for lockers I don't know if they are even an option. I think they'd be good for trail running where there aren't too many large obstacles to get past, if it does have lockers, than it could be somewhat formidable. I'd take the Dakar version of the touareg any day though.

Actually the Touareg did quite well off roading but of course it does have it's limitations but it's clearance was pretty decent but I wouldn't buy one for off roading but it's nice to know that if you had one you could go off road if needed.

funny thing is that i got to sit in a chyrsler pacific and it's actually pretty cool Definitely not a suv but more like a cross between a minivan and a station wagon.

I would never trade it for my 4runner but wouldn't mind driving it around town.

You can get the T-Reg with a rear locker in north america, and front and rear lockers in europe. Its IFS/IRS flexes really poorly though, especially at maximum ride height.

Pacifica, Pontian Vibe, 2005 Outback, Audio All Road or whatever it is called are considered COV's (Cross Oer Vehicle's). A "Cross" between a Car and SUV.

whatever...

it is a station wagon, a grocery getter, a booby prize for an aging baby boomer who doesnt want to admit they own a station wagon.

a station wagon by any other name is still a station wagon, even if it has a big engine...just like the magnum.

that said, if i had to get a station wagon, i'd get a magnum.

I'm getting a station wagon, by choice. Subaru Legacy GT Wagon, with a 5speed. Fun little car with nice cargo room.

If it was a newer body style outback I'd consider, but I am looking at the 98's, and the body cladding is a huge turn off for me. I know the outbacks are a little nicer than the street legacy's, but I just can't stand the looks.

Another nice wagon is the Audi S4 wagon. Can't argue with twin turbo WRX/Lancer worthy performance. My dad has way too much fun with his out in SoCal.
