Chevy Tahoe

No, I have no intention of selling out my fellow Toy enthusiasts. My brother in law is considering a 99 Tahoe 4dr 4wd with about 60k on it. Does anybody know if these trucks are as good Chevy claims they are? Anybody heard of any problems, quality or otherwise? I do not know much about Chevy/GMC vehicles so if anybody has any insight I can share with my Brother in law I would appreciate it. Thanks fellas.

Even though people normally use Chevy and GMC interchangeably, GMC's quality is much better. Everybody I know has traded their Chevy in at the 50k mark; me included. If he can go GMC, do it.

This is my rig:

Its a '97 GMC Yukon. I have about 70,000 miles on it right now.
I really like it. It has a ton of room for our family and drives so nice for a rig that weighs over 3 tons

There have been a couple of things that needed fixing but nothing serious. One thing is the intake manifold gasket. Seems this needs to replaced at about 50,000 miles.
It is fun to get on the open road and open up the 350 V8

I use mine to pull our trailer. I have actually needed to use the 4WD on one of our camping trips to central Oregon. I got into a bit of mud and grass and got stuck. I just pushed the 4WD button and out i came with the trailer behind me.

I installed some larger tires (265-75-16) and fuel wise i get around 15mpg city and 19mpg hwy without the trailer.
With the trailer i average 10mpg:cry:

Give me a buzz if you need any other info.

My boss uses nothing but GMCs...
They are great trucks, we had a 2500 Desiel Suberban and MAN i loved that thing. Little different than what your bro is looking at, but I have many relitives with Yukons. Not sure about the differences in chevy/vs GMC, but I wouldn't doubt it... the GMC will hold its value better also. Do a carfax on it, and if it comes up clean I would go for it. If I didn't have a yota truck I'd have a GM.

This statement makes no sense.. On certain applications GMC application goes down the same assembly line as Chevy, all using the same parts (minus badging / aesthetics).

How can one GMC be better quality if it 99% of the same parts as Chevy??

Explain for the ignorant..
