Cannabis (Pot) Threads/Posts

The use of Cannabis products for any reason is a terminate-able offense in most workplaces and in some regions can result in far more serious consequences. Therefore threads/posts about the medical/religious/recreational use of these products in any form are banned under both our non-work/family safe and illegal content rules. Members seeking information/discussion on these topics are requested to do so elsewhere. Thank you for understanding.

Just curious but now that it is being talking about on a daily basis where I work(United States Capitol both on the Senate floor and in Congress) and is more and more being talked about and used in medical circles across the country and around the world is it really non work/non family/illegal content? , when lots and lots more professionally trained people are talking about it as a alternative to traditional medicines? not to menchin it is being considered to be one of the best way's to help dig the country out of the debt we are in? (check out the story on msn.com 2-3 days ago) and yes it is really being talked about like that on the hill with quite a few Senators , Congressmen and woman to include P.O.T.U.S.(President of the United States) talking about this in a very real way.

Personally I could care less one way or the other but if you are going to be politically correct about this then you may want to re examine the political correctness of your decision to ban all the talk about it since there are already many states that have medical marijuana rules and clinics legally dispensing it to patients and there is not much a employer can do if it prescribed by a licenced medical professional about firing an employee and it may become the thing that helps to save this country solve it's debt problem.

For the record if there is a lockup/arrest on our department and pot is found to be in the person's possession and they have one of them prescriptions from any of the states that doe's recognize it for medical purposes the person CAN NOT BE CHARGED WITH POESSON OF AN ILLEGAL SUBSTANCE.

Although I have not read every thread in depth on here about it, mainly because I grow tired of repeated stupid comments, I support the new rules. I was actually going to pm a staff member and request that this rule be made. Here's a thumbs up to the new rule

The main reason staff talked this over is because of the following:
1. Threads have contained both talk about medical and "illegal" usage of it.
They intertwine with each other, and you can not keep one out of the other as witnessed by a thread that was started a few days ago.

2. Talk has been brought up here about driving stoned out on trails.
That has gotten a lot of members upset.
I know if I was a trail leader and someone whipped out either alcohol or pot, you are not going on the run with us.
Many clubs follow this same rule when on the trail.
Medical or not, many do not want stoned drivers out on the same trail with them.

3. Threads here with discussion of pot always go downhill, anger/tempers flare, threads become uncivil to the point where they need to be shut down/infractions handed out.
This is why you do not see the political section open here, same thing happened with it when it was open.

4. Many jobs monitor their employee's Internet activity, and reading said threads of this nature could end up getting the site blocked which would not be a good thing.

im all for pot, (in fact they are talking about making recreational use legal, just like alcohol and tobacco, just taxing the holy hell out of it, saw it on the news a few days ago, which i agree with) but it does NOT belong on the trail, just like alcohol. im for this rule simply cuz, its as corey said, it cannot be talked about on here without fighting, just like the political threads.

Thank you Ozzie.
For the record, I feel if someone needs it for their ailments and they get it prescribed for them and it is the only thing that can help them, so be it, they are in less pain.

But quite often the recreational use of it is brought up here, and in most states it is still illegal.

I could care less if someone has a document that they can legally smoke it to cure an ailment, try it on a trail run with trail leaders and see what happens.

I myself have witnessed wrecks caused by it, and I have witnessed many a wreck from the usage of alcohol.
My first 4x4 Toyota was taken from me by a drunk driver.

And the part about having documentation for it and not being arrested, that may be so, but try to use that excuse at work, and you will find yourself in the unemployment line.
I know at Boeing if you are found with any illegal substance, out the door you go.
They could care less if you had a written document that you need it for medical purposes.
Would you want someone that is stoned working on jets?

Also at a lot of jobs such as mine, all Internet activity is monitored and key words are logged.
If I was surfing a forum talking about pot like I am now, that could flag me for an investigation.

So why am I talking about it now?
I did not go to work today, so no one is monitoring this that can lead back to an investigation of what I am surfing while on breaks/lunch while at work.
I have today off, and next Friday to make it a four day weekend.

Freedom of expression/speech has nothing to do with what we are talking about here. If someone wishes to discuss marijuana, or the use of cannibas, there are ample resources and forums where they can discuss it.

This forum is called Yotatech, not MarijuanaTech. Its not an issue of freedom of speech, its an issue of common sense, courtesy, legality, and respect. I am closing this thread from future discussion, because like every pot thread we ever have, it turns into a "the man is controlling me" debate.

The rules have been outlined, clear as day. When a member signs up for this forum, they agree to abide by the rules. Consider this an "amendment" to clarify for those who choose to push technicalities. No further debate is necessary.

Just for further clarification folks the above sticky is not a "new rule" so to speak just a clear statement of what has always been our position on the topic.
Corey and Death Cougar have both illustrated why we felt that we needed to codify it at this time.
