Calgary, AB...not born and raised, but it's been long enough that I consider myself a Calgarian.

This is for you neighbours to the north...

Edmonton Sun ...

Edmonton, Canada - A seven year old boy was at the centre of an Edmonton courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with the child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Edmonton Oilers, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

Hahha, as funny as that is, it's not even worth making fun of the oil at this point. It was funny at 10 losses. As a lifelong nucks fan, even I felt a teeny weeny sliver of a tad of remorse...

uhhh, I have a mountain bike... hasn't been off the street in years. Actually though, I wouldn't mind getting into the sport.

I moved here to get away from all the BS that comes with living in the city. I lived in Surrey for over 20 years and just couldn't take it anymore. My parents bought their house in '84 for $70k and it's worth over $400,000 now. I wouldn't pay $70k for a place in Surrey the way that the city is today. (well, maybe to turn around and flip it...)
