I ordered a an '07 Camry Hybrid for June/July arrival, hoping to squeak in under the 60K cap for the full Federal tax credit. It'll get the state credit, too. They're only making 12K of them this year. There will be long wait lists. For a full test of the Camry HSD see the April issue of Motor Trend in stores now.
I've sat in all of them. I'm beyond impressed with the improved levels of Lexus-like content, fit, finish and (lowered) price. To think that Toyota completely overhauled the best selling car in the US after only a four year product cycle is stunning. This car sets the new standard for the segment, makes an Accord seem like last year's Corolla and the Avalon is suddenly redundant. I know, it's a grocery getter, but it would also fit in pulling up to the valet parking area. An incredible effort that must have GM execs taking early retirement. |

Won't know until release in May. All other prices were announced. The hybrid will be less than the top line XLE, more than the SE. I'm guessing a loaded hybrid with optional leather that includes seat and mirror heaters will be around $27,500 + freight + advertising.

Heh, just me around the head office these days. Although I toy with the idea of hiring an Admin. Asst., I'd probably wind up hiring "someone" who would only get me into trouble with my fiance.

what is the mpg on the hybrid. I am interested in one but it is a few years down the road & it will be used. I need to build my final home first.

In the M/T April issue test they reported a real-world 31+mpg city, 40+ mpg hwy at a constant 70 miles per hour on regular gas.
But, that was in sunny SoCal. Toyota hybrids are sensitive to ambient temps. My last few Priuses consistently lost 25% mileage in the cold months here, dropping from 52 to 39. The new Camry relies less on the electric traction motor side than Prius, so the ambient effect may be greater. |

IMO Toyota is really getting up their in overall build quality to Lexus. I think the new camry is VERY nice looking.

) so I can only comment on the looks but I like the "lines" that they added to make it look more sporty/athletic. If we get one, I think it I'd want the V6 - 110hp more than the I4 is too tempting to pass up. ![]()

When are they expected to hit dealerships? We're debating on an Accord, CR-V, Camry, or used Highlander.

why do you like the cr-v better then? the accord, cr-v and highlander are dued to be replace soon. so if you're getting one of these, i'd wait for the new model.

I haven't had the chance to sit in one yet, but they come with better standard features than the Rav4 does. When you compare the EX 4wd AT to the Sport I4 AT, you can see the differences. When you finish adding all the options to the Rav4, it's about 2000 more in cost. The Highlander is due to be replaced next year, I think, but I cannot afford a new one, thus why we're looking for a used one. |

Well the Limited 2.4 is really more comparable to the EX. The Rav's msrp is $22.5 and some of the standard features are 17"wheels, fogs, side/curtain airbags, mp3 cd, optitron gauges, LEDs, 166hp vs 156hp, Trac/Vsc, 28/22mpg vs 27/21mpg, what else.... I think it comes down to looks for you guys as the price aren't that far off.

In Arizona they ran up huge subsidy bills on LPG conversions and then abruptly cut the program. .....just curious.....
