Bike Suspension needed for project

Hey everyone,

For the past couple years I've been working on a bit of a project for taking my hunting kayak down roads closed to motorized vehicles. In other words I built a light weight trailer to tow the kayak, with my gear inside, behind my bike. My prototype worked fine, but it was primitive, and didn't have the durability. It failed on a hunting trip and I'm ready now to start construction on an improved design I've had on the back burner for a long time.

What I'm looking for are 2 economic suspension components from kids Mt. bikes from Wal-Mart or other chain stores. I've found plenty of high end competition components but that quality is completely unnecessary. I’ve looked on cheap bike producer’s sites, like Huffy, for replacement parts with no luck.

I’ve thought about trying to buy a couple wrecked bikes locally, but I wanted to see if there were any other options.

Here’s an example of what I’m looking for. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=7159853916
The 750 lb/in is much too stiff; that’s why a kid’s bike would be best. I want some travel since my loads won’t be over 100 lbs max.

Thanks for your help,

Erich

Anyone with ideas? Maybe one of your kids has the kind of bike I'm thinking of and it came with a replacement parts order list or something.

Perhaps look for an air shock not a coil shock. You can set the air pressure very low depending on the weight you are carrying.

Very good idea!

I bet that would be the best performer since it is so adjustable.

I'll check that out! I still wish I could find out where to get the cheap stock ones all these Target, Wal-Mart and Fred Meyer's bikes come with.
