A BAD DAY INDEED Lucky for him there was people there to dig him out but I think them shelves were a bit stressed don't look like he hit anything very hard.

the racking is designed to carry compression/vertical loads. it doesnt take much of a hit to compromise the structural integrity of the uprights. i used to do safety inspections of racking similar to those, we had a 'dent gauge' for checking the uprights. if the point didnt touch the bottom of the dent, it was immediately cordoned off and stock was removed.

i would think the cage on the lift truck kept the operator somewhat safe, the good thing (from the vid), there was no pedestrian traffic. that situation could have been fatal.
