It's not a Mac-specific problem, but those with a Mac could certainly help me figure something out.

My digi-cam takes video. The video spits out in JVC proprietary format. They have a video player for windows and a Quicktime movie viewer plugin for Mac, so people can view the videos I take.

My dilemna is that I don't have an encoder/decoder for Windows, so I can't convert this proprietary video format to something like mpeg or avi.

But Quicktime got me thinking. Quicktime Pro has the ability to export videos in almost any video format. So what I needed, was a Mac user to try this JVC video plugin for Quicktime, downloadable here (with instructions):

and see if it plays one of my JVC videos, downloadable here:

Now if I had a Mac user who had Quicktime Pro, technically they would be able to view my video & export it to mpeg.

Anyway, that's my theory. I was just hoping one of you could test the videos as per my info above, and tell me if it works.

If either of you have Quicktime Pro & can try the export feature, even better. If not, no prob. At least I have a theory..

Al,

I do not have quicktime pro, but I gave it a try with quicktime 6 and it did not seem to work. Your JVC plugin booted up system 9 (classic). Most (updated, which mine is) macs are running system ten (X) with system 9 underneath. Maybe you might look for an updated plugin @ JVC for a system X plugin.

Let, know if this helps, or if I can do any other test, I enjoy computer ideas. Maybe we can figure something out.

I don't all that much about Macs, so I'm really not sure what you said in your reply hehe.

Do you think you could figure out some way to get the plugin working in Quicktime? That's a start. If we could get it playing in QuickTime, I know we can export it with the Pro version...
