Thumbs up Anti Gravity device?!?!

Wow, I never knew these things existed! Think they are for real? Way cool.

Way cool:
http://www.americanantigravity.com/lifter4-outdoor.html

http://www.americanantigravity.com/lifter4.html

They have lots of really cool videos of various versions of these things being tested on the website too. Some of them even appear to have some sort of "engery field" around them.

Something else kinda cool on there too:
Home page:
http://www.americanantigravity.com/airboard.shtml

I was blown away with this stuff. Sooo cool--I had to share.

Daniel

Planned stuff: Pre-runner light bar with Hella 500s, small lift
Stuff I'd do if I went crazy: SAS, 7mgte or 1UZ swap, and as much offroad goodies as $$ will allow.

Shades of Star Trek and Star Wars!
They had anti grav things on Star Trek to move supplies a few inches above ground, and of course you have seen them too in Star Wars moving stuff, and also in the land speeders that Obiwan and Luke drove to where they sold the vehicle.

Pretty amazing indeed.

Those guys have been at it for a while...

The other side of their claims is that they're not really "defeating gravity" in the sense of what you'd think of Star Wars style stuff, they're actually creating an ion propulsion engine. They're pumping 100,000 volts into that grid.

The point being that standing on a leaf blower and being rasied off the ground (ala Mythbusters) or being on a typical hovercraft is also "defying gravity".

I agree, there is defiantely some sort of physics behind it if it is legit.
It will be quite some time I bet before you see anything truely Star Wars.

Every time I go back and read about that thing it just amazes me.

I've heard about ion propolsion, but I never knew exactly what it is and I thought it would only work in a vacuume (such as space). Really neat idea!

Hoover boards would be awesome too!

its cool your interested in that stuff....however, thats been on slashdot a few years ago and was thoroughly dismissed as a classic science fair project....i'm still waiting on the space elevator so excuse me if i'm a little pessimistic

thats like saying maglev trains defiy science. I mean they use magnetic feilds to hover (suposidly like the hoverboard) but just like the "magic" anti gav machine, you have to dump huge amounts of power into it to get it to work.

speaking of space eleivator... did you hear the leading company developing one recently did a high alitude test via a teathered balllon. It was a success.

leading theory is that carbon nanotubes will alow us to create a cable strong enough to hold the tension.

How recent was this? I know that the longest climb of the 2005 Space Elevator competition (end of October) was about 60' along a 200' cable.

I was just talking to my Chemistry instructor about this stuff and he doesn't really know much about ionic propolsion and levitation (I guess that's more Physics). He did tell me about some scientists that were able to make a frog levitate. Here's the link:

http://www.hfml.ru.nl/froglev.html

Movie:

Interesting stuff!
