Well I restarted the computer, and now I'm running McAfee VirusScan and the "ads by gooooogle" box is gone. Now what?

I most virus scaners don't do spyware too. Not sure about that one.

Do you have to pay for the updates?
My sister has a 1 year old version on her computer and everytime I click for an update it says that there's none available.

Spysweeper has a one year deal I think for app upgrades, and the DAT files.
They update their DATs once a week.

I do not use Spybot anymore, as right now it is version 1.3, and it has a bug which he explains on his site.
You get a DSO exploit, and you think you have spyware, but you do not.

You tell it to delete it, and it comes back the next scan.
It is not spyware, just a bug until he releases 1.4 which has been taking forever.

NoAdware is a good program too. Everytime I run it it always finds something.

Doesn't Panda AntiVirus offer an all in one pacakge? I will look it up in a sec, but I believe they do. $$$ tho.
Edit: Yes they do. I looked at Platinum and it is offered in there.

Microsoft has a new spyware program that's in a Beta form right now. I have to say that I'm really impressed with it.
I had to recently reformat my computer and the very same spyware that was causing all the problems tried to sneak back in and the MS spyware stopped it dead in its tracks. Much better than the Stompsoft Spyware Exterminator I had.

I have heard of the MS one, I will get it when it is out of beta.

Hey, Spybot is fixed.
I do not know if it was a recent Windows update, or the 6 updates that Spybot just installed when I updated it a few minutes ago.

But the DSO exploit thing is now not happening.
