1997 chevy s10 climate control problems

My fathers switch that controls where the air comes out ie, vent, defroster isnt working. he puts the A/C on and it comes out the defroster. I figure its the switch. I've never taken one apart before. I think it may be vacuum operated, but I'm not sure. Any ideas on the probem?

Probably a blown relay or switch, maybe a fuse.

LOL, he asked how to fix not make the problem worse.

I believe it might be a vacuum controlled vent. Check all your Vacuum lines.

It makes it hard to diagnose, I'm in NH and my father is in Florida.

on my '93 s10 it was a steel cable/ housing that controlled which way the air went. you can check the hvac section on s10forum.com, they may have some suggestions
