05 4Runner on "Pimp My Ride"

I'm watching Pimp My Ride right now, and they're "fixing up" a 2005 4Runner....I'll post more when it's over.

how beat up could that car be?!!!!

i have a 85 weathered toyota that they can fix if they are hurting for a show that badly..... my truck isnt in bad conditon or falling apart... but it currently ounds liek a diesel.. and the interior is nasty and the paint on the outside is kinda rough too...

He had a beat up 63 Ford Fairlane. The guy was going to mechanic school so they decided to leave it for him to fix it up when he gained experience. So....they got him a new 05 4Runner and fixed it up. They put a body kit on it and painted some flames. The flames weren't too bad....they kinda looked old school hot-rodish with pinstripes.

They must've decided to do all vehicles now, not just beat-up old ones.
I'm wondering what more can they do to a brand new 2005 Runner. They'll probably just slap 10 x-boxes in it and call it pimped. Maybe even paint it with some god-awful color combination.

Just finish watching the episode myself. The kid got a V6 4x2 Limited black 05 runner. They added this fucgly body kit to it, did some pin stripping, and added 22 inch rims to it. The coolest mod was the rear cargo/tool box, except they cheaped out on the tools and only gave him a small set(not cool IMO). The direct tv system on the roof was weird- that kinda belongs on hummers not runners. Overall the rig looked okay IMO- except I think they should have gotten him a stripped SR5 4x4 and gone all out on it, it would have looked alot cooler that what they did.

You forgot to mention the LCD monitor that you can watch UNDER the truck.. Its pretty stupid!

I watched the episode last night as well and I think they ruined a fine black 4th gen. (4x4 would've been my choice). And I did like the toolbox idea for the back, but the color of the interior was UGLY GREEN and the ghetto flat panel monitor under the spare tire is just plain stupid. Also, did anyone notice the size of the front bumper valance???? I think it was almost touching the floor.. so much for an approach angle!

Also, can anyone tell if the vehicle they had sitting on the lift in the background of the first several episodes is a 3rd gen?? It is painted lavender and looks like they shaved the rear license plate panel and took off the emblems. The taillights sure look like my 3rd gen's though.

Yeah its a 3rd gen in the background for the 1st season.

I did like the carputer that they put in the '05.

Is Toyota a sponser for Pimp My Ride? There has been 2 new cars given away in that show one was a Scion Xb and this 4Runner..

I am glad that they didn't pimp the Fairline. They would have just ruined it. It needs to be on a good show like Overhaulin!

I saw that episode and I got to say that they really messed up that truck especially the silver body kit and the 22 inch rims and low profile tires. And yes the tire video thing was real stupid.
