Sweet Diesel 4Runner For Sale

Saw this over on T4R.com, a little overpriced but still cool nonetheless. If I was rich I would sport it lol

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/2726254451.html

2002 4x4 diesel 4runner 5-speed - $16500

Toyota diesel 1KZ-TE 3.0 intercooled JDM motor. Everything works on this highly sought after conversion after 10,000 miles of daily driving. ZERO issues, guaranteed. Growing family is the ONLY reason for the sale. The price is firm, I have over $22,000 in this build, it is sweet and returns an honest 30 miles to the gallon on the road. Truck does not need a single thing. Cold A/C, hot heat. New 34" BFG KM'2s. serious inquiries only please. The only trades i will remotely consider are 4x4 Cummins,Mercedes Benz diesel, or Excursion 7.3 4x4 (up or down, i can add funds for the right trade). No gas motors, no 4 wheelers, no motorcycles. Please do not ask! SR5 package, ARB bumper and 8000# winch

VERY nice. If I was to build an off road truck that is basically the model I would take.

My lucky day

I bought the rig last month. Couldn't look at it before purchase and relied on the sellers representation. I was not disappointed! Tre was great to deal with. Now I'm learning to short shift! Eat your heart out gassers- My best tank so far has been 27mpg.The IC really gives it some serious grunt. You can really feel it come up on boost.
"If it ain't broke-LETS UP GRADE!"
New 5100's and springs on the way.Saving up for the manual hub part's and a perkins performance rear bumper.

Diesels are a lot of fun to mod as well, turn the boost up and do some tuning and you can get some nice gains. A larger turbo is another great way to get more power along with water injection. I have considered a diesel swap a few times.

The only catch to making a lot of power is tuning limitations, I am not sure what options that ECU has. If it has the ability to be tuned you can turn the boost up a lot combined with a larger turbo and you could easily put most gassers to shame even the supercharged ones.

Tuning

This motor has a mechanical pump.So no chipping. But that's what I wanted-No electronics any where. There may be way's to turn the pump up or other tweaking, but I don't want to do anything that would effect reliability.
It's got a 3" exhaust and the sound is not loud but has a nice throaty sound.
Unfortunately I only get to hear it at idle. The wife's going to really give me a hard time if I ask her to drive it up and down the street so I can hear itI know you guy's understand. She's still hanging on to our 99 limited.

Properly tuned reliability will not be effected at all. Unlike Gas engines Diesels love boost and a lot of it. Running 45psi+ of boost is common for diesels, heck they will run 100psi+ on the modded trucks.

Do some research on some international sites where they use this motor and see what others are doing to them, I am sure someone has come up with a way to at the least turn up the boost, what kind of boost does it run now?

Look in to the magazine "Australian 4WD Monthly" [or something like that] they frequently have articles on modding Toyota diesels.. there are some chip tuner options for that engine I've seen ads in the mag for them...

Check out this forum from the UK lots of good info on the diesels http://www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/

What is Rostra cruise? Any plus to that brand? I need to put cruise on mine.
Was your rig a conversion or factory?
