Odyssey Battery deal

This company has a great deal on Odyssey 1500 automotive batteries with free shipping... $189.00 shipped - look on the right side of the page, part way down...

http://www.lmrbatteries.com/odyssey_automotive.html

no affiliation, I just ordered a 1500 and some other UPS batts from them...

considering how much a battery weighs and it ships for free, i guess it's a good deal, but could you not buy the same thing locally for a similar price?

They were quite a bit more locally, I forget how much they quoted me though. Mid 200's I believe.

I handle a TON of Odyssey batteries every year, and the one thing I can tell you is if somebody offers you one for cheap, RUN!!! They're hands down the worst batteries I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They drop cells like crabs falling form the pubes of a $5 whore.

sounds like an optima!! its crazy how those cheap autozone, kirkland, autolite, etc batteries for like 60-80 bucks last like 5+ year with no problems and these 200 dollar batteries are having problems in a year. IMO you dont get what you pay for when it comes to batteries these days.

Hmmm, Who else has had problems with Optima Batteries. I thought these were some of the best batteries out there. The Red Top one in my Toyota is 5 years and 8 months old and still runs like a champ. I recently just upgraded it for a Yellow Top Optima. Was that a bad decision?

Interesting, that is the first time I have ever heard anything bad about Odyssey batteries. I just bought one so I hope your wrong. I had been using optima's before that and have never had a problem with one. Maybe I'm just lucky.

You know, I have to retract my statements. I got odyssey and orbital mixed up I've handled few odyssey and had no issues with them, but the orbitals suck anus. Sorry for any confusion!

Thank you for stating this. I was about to rip into a waste of time of defending Odyssey batteries.

They are no different from a DieHard Platinum...both are made at the same manufacture..EnerSysInc.com
Buying one at your local Sears can be had for $170-180...

Ditto.
My dad started a company that got a DARPA grant to proto-type 2 amphibious all-terrain assault vehicles for DOD and has worked with them on several other projects ( I would say more but the men in black would come find me). The only battery he has ever used is the Odyssey, and believe me when I say they punnish these vehicles when they are put thru trials. We have never had to replace one of these batteries.
