New catalytic converter anti-theft device for trucks and SUVs

Hi Everyone,

I bet most of the members in this community have either:

1) Had their catalytic converter stolen
2) Know someone who has had their catalytic converter stolen

Well, I had mine stolen from my '98 4Runner last year, and I set out to create an anti-theft device for catalytic converters that was less expensive, easier to install and as effective as any alternative on the market.

It took a lot of time and effort, but I created The Catlock, catalytic converter anti-theft device.

I invite you to take a look at www.cat-lock.com.

Sincerely,

-Ian

x2 what mountainboy said. If they're gonna take the time to cut the cat out, why wouldn't they take an extra 3 seconds to cut the cable?

Oh, and uh.....welcome?

Re: Catlock cable

Wow, you guys are fast! I'd like to address the comment about the cable:

A catalytic converter thief typically uses a pipe cutter or a cordless sawzall to execute the crime. Neither tool is a good fit to cut the aircraft-quality steel cable The Catlock uses to lock the catalytic converter to the vehicle.

The pipe cutter simply isn't meant to cut cables and the sawzall needs more tension and resistance than the cable would allow. The rest of The Catlock's hardware is made from high-grade steel as well, very difficult and time-consuming to cut through.

Most of these devices aim at being visual deterrants; if they see a cable with some weird contraption around the cat, theives are more likely to move on to the next vehicle.
