Suspension Lift Question

Do I really need to buy a full lift kit for an 84/84 truck? Or can I just buy some new marlin (or any other nice brand) leaf springs, and some bilstein 5100 shocks?

That would save me a bunch of money.

Sorry if this is a n00b question...

Thanks!

AFAIK you'll have to weld new spring hangers on the rear because the rear leafs are longer.

In the front you'll be fine but you won't have hi-steer.

You could make it in parts, now the leafs and shocks, later the hi-steer and IFS steering box, etc...

Define what you mean by "full lift kit" and how much lift you are looking for.

If you go with a mild 2"-4" lift and stick to stock length springs, you can get by with springs and shocks. If you want more lift or a higher performance setup, then longer springs, new hangers/shackles, shock mounts, etc. (i.e. a full lift kit) are likely needed.

What are some good springs that will fit the stock mounts?

So I assume the rear lines on a 2wd are longer?
Did you use them front and back on yours or just back?
