Suspension Lift Question
Do I really need to buy a full lift kit for an 84/84 truck? Or can I just buy some new marlin (or any other nice brand) leaf springs, and some bilstein 5100 shocks?
That would save me a bunch of money. Sorry if this is a n00b question... Thanks! ![]() |

AFAIK you'll have to weld new spring hangers on the rear because the rear leafs are longer.
In the front you'll be fine but you won't have hi-steer. You could make it in parts, now the leafs and shocks, later the hi-steer and IFS steering box, etc... David

Define what you mean by "full lift kit" and how much lift you are looking for.

If you go with a mild 2"-4" lift and stick to stock length springs, you can get by with springs and shocks. If you want more lift or a higher performance setup, then longer springs, new hangers/shackles, shock mounts, etc. (i.e. a full lift kit) are likely needed.
