Maybe I miss understood your question, are you talking about the rear suspension? RUF (Rear springs Up Front) are exactly that, rear Toyota springs adapted and used for the front suspension, so if you're talking about the rear I'm assuming you meant Chevy 63's.
I think if you use older Chevy springs ( can't remember what years) they measure around 57" or you can use the rear springs off of a ford f150 or ford ranger, they flex well, but aren't as long as the 63's. I've also seen people box in the frame where it's bobbed with some 2x3" rectangular tubing and mount the shackle mounts vertically to the end of the new boxed in frame and were able to run 63's that way. Since you'll have to weld in new spring hangers to run the wider Chevy 63's you should be able to move them forward to make up the difference of the bobbed frame, just tack weld everything in place and make sure your shackle angle is good before you fully weld everything up!

Yes, I am wanting to do rears up front but wanted to also find out about springs for the rear and which ones I should look for? If I put the 57" springs in the rear will k have to move any shackles? Also, what is the best combo for rears up front to get the most flex with a lift to go along with it?

As far as moving your rear shackles, that depends on how you mount the front spring mounts. I believe on Chevy 63's the front mounts are moved 11" forward from the stock location (measuring from eye to eye). I would get your front spring mounts mocked into place and tack welded, then check your shackle angle with the weight of your truck on all fours. Once you have your shackle angle where you want it, then weld it up.
As for RUF springs, it may be a little trial an error to get the amount of lift your looking for. You could get your rear suspension all set up and then use your stock rear springs for the front. There's going to be more work involved. You'll need a new front spring hanger, longer shocks, shock hoops, or ford shock towers, longer brake lines. I would also suggest doing hi-steer at the same time since the RUF springs are longer and are going to move your axel forward, you might as well ditch the factory push/pull steering and upgrade to hi-steer. I hope this answers some of your question, and isn't making it more confusing, lol.

I am starting my RUF install in the next month.
Would anyone recommend buying these springs for the front? They are an OEM replacement for a 85 4runner.
http://www.truckspring.com/products/...a-af2eed3ca56a
For the chevy 63s I ordered leaf springs from lowrangeoffroad.com
http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/63-ch...sp-63cs-4.html
I want it to low ride on 37s and sit about like the OPs 4runner does in the original post.
Will these springs suffice? I havent purchased the front springs yet and the chevys are coming in the mail.

the point of this lift is to be cheap and add flex to your truck without having to buy new shiny springs with a big price tag.
that being said, if you want to buy the rears new you need 4 springs. at that point you are spending almost 600 bucks and you still have to make a custom pack by cutting up springs. WHY? if you got the cash just go buy a set of trail gear springs and make your own hangers.
id pick the chevys still because they are great springs. they dont add much lift. I ran them with stock front springs for a while and the truck sat level.
i get all the flex these springs have to offer and i rub on both front and back of my front fenders with 35's but i have opted not to cut my truck up.

fitting tires is more about how much you limit your up travel, fender trimming, and axle placement.

It was to my understanding that the RUF and Chevy 63s set up yielded less lift than the TG springs, Which is why i opted for it.
I figured new springs will ride better than old springs so thats why I was going to buy new ones, to start fresh. I have heard that Sky has a spring that matches ruf dimensions that are spec out to the weight for the front too and was considering those.
New rear leafs for an 85 are $300 shipped to my door from the website mentioned above.
I have done alot of research, but i havent heard about needing at least 4 leafs up front. I have heard of people making their own leaf packs, but ive also read about some people just using the unaltered spring pack from and 85 up front.
Can you explain?

i did a 5 leaf pack with an add a leaf and i sit about 1.5 inches lower than the trail gear 4 inch kit that my buddy has.
when it comes to old springs, that were your shopping skills comes into play. finding the right truck to pull springs from is a challenge, but 35 bucks a spring saves $ for buying HI steering and shocks.

How does the RUF 63" rear combo ride on the highway. I am looking at options for my 79 pick up. I have the Mercedes om617 turbo diesel in it which adds 400#s up front. Currently 3" lift springs. I feel every bump right now. It beats the truck up. Need to find a softer solution. I plan to keep the same lift just looking for a better on/off road ride. I like my bfg 33x10.5s, will be buying another set when I need them. I have most of what I need for the hi-steer conversion too. So would I see on road improvement or does the RUF and 63" rear conversion just improve off road manners? Thanks!
