Rear spring with no U-bolt idea

O.K., let me know if this idea will work.
I am getting everything together to put some chevy springs in the rear of my 87' 4runner. I have an idea after looking at this set up from All Pro. I was thinking, could I just cut out a square metal plate roughly 3.5 inches wide or so. Basically wide enough to clear the springs. Drill holes in the 4 corners, then weld this onto the spring perch. Then get a mirror image of that plate, and put it on the top of the springs. Then I can use 4 bolts and nuts to tighten the whole sprig pack to the plate that is welded onto the spring perch. Let me know if you guys think this would work. Hope what I said makes sense!

I personally wouldn't do it. This setup is relying 100% on the welds and adds a lot of stress to the axle tube. U-Bolts on the other hand bolt the tube and springs together, putting very minimal load on the welds.

X2. Too much stress in this area to trust just welds.

If your going with allpro springs, go with the full kit as it comes with the ubolt flip kit which is soo much simpler then what you have pictured.. Love my flip kit
