Need Help - Best Lift Kit & Shocks 4 My '82 4X4 Pickup
I need to find an all around lift kit for my 1982 toyota 4x4 pickup. i'd like to get a few inches on body and suspesion. I don't want to put something crappy on it, but i need to find something at a decent price. I was thinking about putting Rancho RS9000X shocks on my truck... that is once I came up w/ the money. But does anyone else know some good shocks that that are worth the money? If anyone knows where I could get these things please post a link as well as your thoughts on the situation!

All pro, and Marlin, are probably some of the best systems. Or you can find some leafs off a chevy or something that will work. Can you fab at all.
The other route is superlift etc.................

what exactly are you going to do with this truck? dd, crawl it, sand, mud, mall cruising? how big of tires do you want to run? that'll be a factor in it.
trust me, you don't want "a few inches on suspension and body". you can run 33s with fender trimming, though springs is probably a better route as the fronts are usually negatively arched from age.
the best route is to buy one of marlin's kits that converts it to crossover steering, much safer on the road and will perform better off-road.

as far as shocks go, look into the bilstein 5125s. much better shock than the rancho 9x and the price is good too.
springs - marlin, chevys...waggys...or if you want some high quality springs go with deavers or alcans.
3" lift springs will give you more than enough lift to fit 33s or even 34s...stay away from the body lift just get some good springs and shocks and you'll be happy...
crossover steering is definitely a GOOD idea too as kyle mentioned

alright thanks for the info everyone, i'll look into those brands. the reason for doing this is just because i mainly want to get more ground clearance on my truck for goin off road. and i know i wouldn't run anything bigger than 33's on my truck because i have 30's on it now and w/ that old 4-banger it doesn't even like pulling those sometimes. i'd like to get a lift and shocks for around $600-650 if at all possible. if anyone else has something to say please do! thanks guys
westy - i looked into bilstein 5125's and didn't have a ton of luck. though i did find 5100's here - http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...952349/c-10101
whatever i get i'd like to get from JCwhitney because they have free shipping goin on orders over $99, but the prices are 129 each which isn't better than rancho rs9000x's... lmk if you know a better place that i could order w/ cheaper prices. thanks!

This is what I would do to meet your budget.
3" AALs for the rear (60 bucks)
Replace the tired old fronts with Downey 3" factory replacement springs (200-225 shipped)
Skyjacker or Procomp Shocks for about 30 bucks a piece. IMO, shocks are worthless offroad EXCEPT for controlling bounce when stuck or in a tuff spot
If you stay with 33s you will need to relocate your foward brake mounts and possibly the rear. Maybe. I got away with not doing it on my 33s
So now your out about 400 bucks
If you wanted to fit larger tires you will have to do a Shackle Lift F/R (150.00)
Brake line Extensions (89.00) and you should be able to clear 35s with only minor, minor trimming.
You picked the right truck, I will say that.
