FYI: Low profile bumpstops should increase the travel of IFS, Unfortunently this will increase the angles of the Drive Axles during flex thus making it easier for your CVs to break

I broke 3 c.v.s in less than 5 months with a welded front end. Just be kind to the axles!

well, i guess if you add them (which i think im gonna do), just dont go WOT in the mud or rocks, and just pick good lines. i'm just one of the many that a SAS will not look good with my bank account, and if i can squeeze even a little extra travel out of the ifs, i will. just tread lightly

What makes more of a difference in front end articulation--low profile bumpstops or sway bar disconnects? Or must you do both for any real difference?

That was one of my earlier mods--
http://community.webshots.com/photo/...04772299nfzlGR So I need to do both, or does it really make a difference?

i didnt even bother with my compression bumpstops because when generally flexing, they dont even touch. only when i hit a bump with speed do they hit.
for the extension bumpstops, i just used a hacksaw and cut the rubber down to the height i wanted. |

so is there anything wrong with cutting all of the existing bumpstops down? or is this impossible for some reason?

The rubber of the factory stops are softer than the urethane of the ES lo-pro units. If you take material away, they may not do anything. Total cost of the parts for the ES Lo-Pro ones was like $21.

You can definitely cut down the stock bumpstops a little more than halfway before you get too close to the bolt head, I did. The shorter you make them the stiffer they'll get as there's less material to compress. I'd only cut down the 2 extension stops though, the 4 compression stops on my truck never got used except under high-speed conditions and having that extra cushion was nice because it stopped any harsh impact when the suspension bottomed out.
