Lifting a 97 TACOMA?

Hey guys. Im looking into lifting a 97 or up TACOMA. I want to run 35s or 38s. What lift should i use? And what gears? Aslo, what other mods will i need? THX

i would suggest a SAS (Solid Axle Swap) if your going to wheel the thing, because IFS strength limit is pretty much 33's if you don't drive like a grandma, if its just going to be a street queen, then do a 6" suspension, fabtech makes one and there are some other companies out there too, and possibly a body lift if you need it, i would run 5.29's with 38's and a five speed or auto, and 4.88's with 35's and a 5 speed, if a auto i would go with 5.29' with 35's

OK, So i cant run 35s or 38s with IFS?that sux. How much is an SAS and where can i get the steps and pictures of a SAS? I know how to weld and could do it myself.

Oh, and it won't be cheap

Its not cheap = me not doin it. I'll wheel it until it breaks. Then od the SAS

from what i have read on here, you can run like a basic 3" suspension plus a body lift which could allow the fittment of 35". you can buy the body lift from 4crawler. iam in the process of doing 3" suspension plus 2" body and this will allow 33" to fit nice, as for gears!! if it is a street/ highway and some dirt, a high 4.50's would work out fine

om probably gonna by the 6 inch lift kit from..I forget the brand. Is it skyjacker?or one of them. Would that give me enough room for 35s?

yes this will allow 35's. i know a guy where i live and he has the skyjacker lift and he has 35's on his truck.

What axle should i use for the 35s? Is the stock axle ok?

well this guy that i know has the trd axle. The ring gear dia. is bigger than the non trd version. BBut what i had heard is that the non trd axle is stronger than the trd because it has the carrier bearing support brackets. so i would stick with the stock but add a locker or Limited slip
