Lightbulb License Plate Mounting Solution for a TJM w/Winch

I recently installed an Warn m8000 on my TJM T15 and was confronted with where would be a good place to mount the license plate - (our state law requires front plates).

I found this writeup On how to use Mag Lite mounts and some metal strapping to make a license plate mount that will attach to your roller fairlead. If you modify it slightly by turning the brackets 90degrees you can mount it to the bottom light Bar of the TJM which would work well if you have a hawse fair lead.

Here's some pics of it attached to the bar - and on the writeup i posted you can see it attached to the fairlead - along with a parts list.

Nice job

MO also requires a front plate & that TJM is the bumper I want; good to know there is a solution when a winch is added.

I would be afraid someone would walk by and jack the plate, since it just snaps on

That's not a concern of mine. Besides most people wouldn't even realize it just snaps on unless the saw you snap it on and off. People I show it to in person don't realize it till I do it.

Where did you mount the license plate to on the TJM? I could drill 50 holes in the plate but there still is no available mounting holes on the TJM - unless you drill your own there too.

good idea, but as said earlier, i would still be worried about my plate being stolen, and slapped on some stolen car, and having to go thru some sort of hassle with the police

We got pulled over for no front plate on the highway by a state patrol - but it amazes me (now that I am noticing) how many people run without a front plate.
