If its leaking, then the axle seal is toast. the felt pad just keeps dust out of the knuckle.
allprooffroad.com has a nice upgrade kit.

To replace the pad youll have to take the entire knuckle off.
Would be a good time to give it a full rebuild if you go this route. The knuckle should have a little grease on it but should not be a leak with grease everywere. Youll need a good set of tools to rebuild the knuckle but its definetly possilbe for anyone to do. Search knuckle rebuilds online and you can find the step by step

Allpro, trail gear (sells the most complete), and marlin sells it also.
Not a bad time to replace wheel bearings also. Ive got a Trail gear kit for sale with wheel bearings and heavy duty rock rings if your interested PM and ill cut you a deal.

Yup...check out those wheel bearings. I would recommend replacing them with OEM Koyo or NSK bearings (unless you like changing them on a regular basis)
Check out MarlinCrawlers heavy duty axle seals..they are BEEF! no more birfield soup..... ![]() ![]()
