One option would be to put a synthetic cable in the winch then you can pretty much use any sort of glove you want as the synthetic line won't tear up the gloves like a steel rope will.

Howdy 4Crawler! I'm proud to say that I have 100' of 3/8" Viking trail-line on my xd9000 (same winch as you, (and Corey) if I remember right!) So, I guess I don't need super heavy-duty gloves after all. I still think it might be a good idea to get a pair for the recovery bag. I may just get the Warn gloves or a cheap pair at wal-mart.

I've been picking up some gloves at airgas for like $10-$15 a pair, and they have been holding up to my grinding and welding w/ out any issues. I forget the name right off, but if you're nearby an airgas stop in and take a look.

and teaches you that you need a synthetic cable. Or you can have a few pairs of leather gloves cause they will get ripped up, I worked at a ski hill and I pulled cable I went through a glove a week.
