CV Boots

so my cv boot exploded and was wondering if any one has any troubles with those split replacement boots?

the ones that just wrap around and are good to go?

if my axl is good all i need to do is replace the grease and boot. so i would like to stay away from dissembling the whole thing if need be. even if i have to do it again later its still easier than doing the whole thing if i dont need to pull my wheel off.

just looking for feed back from ppl that have actually used them and what their stories are with their use.

Mine did too! my drivers side one though. I have manual hubs so I just wrapped mine in plastic and duct tape until I get a new boot. I too am curious about the split ones.

Not too many good experiences with the quick boots. Do a full boot if you can, and I recommend it. If you choose the split boot though, I usually put a line of JB quik (or similar) along the split since the zip ties they give you never hold together.

How much are the split boots?

A new (to you) remanned CV is only $70 and you don't have to worry about it.

well boots split or not are like 10$ a piece. thats not the issue. if i dont need to replace the axl i would like to just wrap a boot around it. if my axl is shot then ya ill get a full boot but ya....i havent got that far yet i was just looking for feedback on the split/wrap ones! and i wasnt wheeling when it blew just daily driving it in 2wd so i am hoping my axl is still good.
