Anyone see these new tires?

My favorite truck magazine has on their website a nice 1st gen 4Runner with some new tires they are testing.

<--- Click me

The smallest size it comes in is a 33X12.50-15, so that leaves me out.

Could this be the tire to take away the Goodyear MT/Rs reputation for rocks?

Nice Runner. Hmmm, I might have to look at those when I get new tires. Is that really a Runner? It looks like just like a pickup w/ a CanBack.

Ooops, I think it is a truck.
It's missing the black plastic panel behind the front door that would signify is as a 4Runner.

Darn old people, always messin' up

That's one lucky truck, he got the allpro axle, the tent thingy, and new tires. I need to start working for the magazines!

I think the reason the MTRs are so popular is because of the on road performance compared to more aggressive mud terrains. The mtrs are decent in wet weather conditions, relatively quiet, and last a long time. For example, swampers are just as good, if not better than mtrs on the rocks and mud, but they suck on road. So, I think if they perform well on road then they might be a hit. I know the article said they are pretty quiet for a mud terrain and they are siped. Only time will tell I suppose.

I just started getting this mag delivered. I've had this issue for like 2 weeks. The tread depth on those bad boys is 1 1/4" deep!

Don't know how those would be on the road, being bias ply and all...

I think they are more likely going for competition with the Krawler with this tire. MT/R got its ass spanked by the Krawler, as this tire will also probably. It does have a Krawler kinda tread it appears to me, with a Baja Claw sidewall.

Good call on that one. I wonder what the pricing will be for those bad boys (in a 33)

Those new BFGs are priced so that no one without BFG sponsorship on a professional rock crawling team can afford them. Its a competition tire. If you ever see one on pavement please let us know. :pig:

Crap, it wasn't but a year or so ago when the MT/R first came out that they were also super expensive. That is just how it goes. Give them a year and they will come down in price...

Click the red truck above, and it will take you to the mags site 4WD & Sport Utility.
They have Toyota coverage just about each issue.

He he, on some forums when you make a pic a link, the pic will have a border around it 2 pixels wide or so.

It doesn't do that here for some reason.
