2002 4runner wants 2wd to 4wd conversion

Hey guys... im pretty new here
I recently went to the beach for a fishing trip and was delayed a good hour due to being stuck in sand.
Just wanted to know the approximate price range of getting all the parts to a 2wd to 4wd conversion. I would much rather not purchase a new vehicle.

A lot. You'd need a transmission with transfer case, driveshafts, front diff, axle shafts, and all the associated electronics.

Why not buy a beater 4x4 to use for fishing/hunting trips? Would be alot cheaper.

A member on here did a similar swap a few years ago. I'm sure he is happy with the conversion, but probably not cost effective...

Unless you have extensive modifications to your current rig, you're better off trading in and just getting a 4WD.

Other option is to put a locker in your 2WD.

2WD + sand = lots of speed and low tire pressures

One of the sole reasons why i didn't want to buy a new rig is because i had alot of work done to my truck already. I really appreciate yall helpin me!
