A lot. You'd need a transmission with transfer case, driveshafts, front diff, axle shafts, and all the associated electronics.

Why not buy a beater 4x4 to use for fishing/hunting trips? Would be alot cheaper.

A member on here did a similar swap a few years ago. I'm sure he is happy with the conversion, but probably not cost effective...

Mostly Stock 90 4Runner SR5 V6 Auto w/ 33" Durango MT's (bent lower valance removed), bush bar w/ 55w Baja Offroad Lights, Custom fit 1st. gen rollbar (used to mount Hi-Lift and fire extinguisher), extended diff breathers, (Comming soon rear spool and 2" body lift..) Unless you have extensive modifications to your current rig, you're better off trading in and just getting a 4WD.
Other option is to put a locker in your 2WD. 2WD + sand = lots of speed and low tire pressures

One of the sole reasons why i didn't want to buy a new rig is because i had alot of work done to my truck already. I really appreciate yall helpin me! |
