1997 4 Runner Tire Size Question with 3 inch lift!!!!!

ok here is what I have

1997 4 Runner 891s in the rear

Rev Tek in the front with the top out spacer, also have the diff drop

I am running the factory 16 X 7 alloy wheels

Can I fit 285 75 16s? I do not mind doing some minor trimming in the front i.e. front bumper, pinch weld etc, I do not have running boards and do have an offroad type rear bumper which is about 2 inches further away from the rear of the rear tires than the stock one

I hear it would be best to do a 1 inch body lift, but I would rather not, as I have another project I am working on and do not want to divert my attention from it

Please advise, I think I can live with minor rubbing, and do not mind cutting, trimming as necessary

the truck is mainly street driven but does see regular duty on the beach, often in wet, deep sand.

Thanks, Tim

I mainly drive on the street but will do beach driving

I wont be doing any heavy rock climbing etc, crawling over downed trees or the like

I thought I read here that the stock 16x7 wheels w/ 285's would rub the a-arm. Isn't that why others have gone to wheels like the LC ones because the offset works w/ the a-arms? I could be wrong but I thought this was the situation.

it will rub a little, but for his intended use, it will be ok--not perfect, but ok.
LC wheels are ideal b/c of the size

FWIW, I mounted a set of 285/75R16 Revos on my stock wheels and did not have any rubbing on the UCA's. It all depends on the actual dimensions of the tire.
