Exclamation Tundra Lift

I'm starting to look at different lift kits for tundra's. I don't want anything bigger than 2.5". I'm thinkingof a leveling kit and 265/75/16 (31-10.50). Is their a good brand or are they all the same stuff.

save up some money and get a real kit. I have the spacer on.. it works and looks nice leveled out.. but the only reason i went with it is because of my financial situation. I have money now and i would buy a kit from one of the major brands, but im saving more to convert from 2wd to 4wd.. sas maybe. depends on what you need/ want, preformance or looks. Spacers.. if you go over a speed bump.. youll top off (a clunk) when you go over it. i put 285/75's on mine and rubbed the control arms.. got MT2's wheels and now it rubs the fenders. =( Maybe if i got a kit.. it would clear it just a bit more for it not to rub! What size lift you think I should get. I don't want nothing more than 2.5. I was thinking or a cornfed lift with rear add-a-leaf is that a good one. The only reason why I don't want a 4 is because it's not worth the money to me and you got to get large tires that are a waste on the street. I don't off-road a lot but I want it to look more beefy.

Well If No Offroading Is Done.. Then U Can Go With Spacers. It Will Give You About 2.5"

You Can Put 285/75's And New Rims And It Will Rub Little Against Fenders. /

Its A Nice Way Of Lifting It If Your Just On The Streets/hwy. Im Not Sure If The Spacers Will Affect The 4wd System.... But Hopefully Someone Can Put In Some Info. Mines A 2wd.. So Yeah. If I Were U, Tuff Country Is Nice.. Also Rcd. They Have 4.5" And 6" Lifts Respectively. But If U Just Want Minimal.. The Other Brands Will Do.

Question

I will prob.go with a 2.5 Inch. and go with 275/75/16. I'm keeping my stock rims. I don't have teh money right now for new rims and stuff. I doin't want any rubbing so I will get the next size lower. Also i'm going to get a diff. drop fit if i go with 2.5 so I don't mess up my CV boots. Do you know if I got to get new rear shocks with the 2.5 inch lift. Thanks

There's a lot of trade offs once you start lifting the Tundra. The cons are poor alignment settings (they will be within factory specs but it'll be the lousy end of the specs - especially the caster - which makes the tundra less stable (steering feel) in quartering and cross winds) the CV joint life will decrease by 20%, you'll have to do something to the rear to get back that nice rake look, which can be accomplished with blocks, add-a-leaf, air bags or a custom spring replacement pack, the boots will spit grease but there's an easy fix to that using plain stainless steel hose clamps and going to larger tires will reduce your power and mpg and will make your cruise control worthless, as it'll be constantly kicking out on "slight" inclines, which isn't the best for your transmission if your driving is mainly in hill or mountain terrain. The fix to the power/torque/cruise control and mpg problem is to regear to 4:56. (Of course, if you regear you’ll probably want to add a locker while you’re in there to save on labor etc.) You can run 255X85X16 BFG MTs (a true 33” tire and a damn good one at that) on stock rims with no rubbing if you lift 1.75" - I wouldn't lift any higher than 2"s. Once you start messin' with the ole gal's suspension, you'll quickly learn she's a high maintenance babe in terms of both money and time.

Tundra Lift

Well I think i'm going to go with the leveling kit for now with 265/75/16 (31-10.50). Lifting the tundra sounds like a pain in the a$$ plus i'm not made of money.

I'm not completely sure what you're referring to as a "leveling kit" but you don't need to do anything to your Tundra if you're just going up to a 265X75 tire size - you'll gain around a half inch of ground clearance without any rubbing issues.

A leveling kit is when you put 2" spacers on it bring the front of the truck level with the rear. And i'm getting 265/75/16 (31) or 275/75/16 (32) BFG A/T KO. http://tuffcountry.com/leveling_toyota.html
