a few T100 questions

Hello,
This is my first post.
I bought a '98 T100 SR5 ext cab 2wd truck and has ~70K on it now. We live in the santa cruz mountains in Cali.
I was hoping you could help me w/ a few things.
1) Oil:
I need to do an oil change was thinking about switching to syn oil at 70K mark, do you think switching to syn at 70K is a bad idea since the it can seap through the seals and such? and what type of syn oil would you use?

2) Shocks:
The roads around us are pretty rough, a lot of twisty and bumpy roads.
The shocks on the truck are toast, I don't drive off road unless I need to get somewhere. I don't want to spend too much money for trick stuff, but need some long lasting shocks. Good source for the shocks would nice too.

3) programming the alarm remote:
does anyone know how to program a remote w/ a 98 t100? It is the standard two button remote w/ FCCID:BAB237131-022 canada 2024 101526
Thanks for your help!!!

As long as it doesnt leak or burn oil, I think youd be OK with synthetic.

If dont need shocks for off-roading, Id just buy a nice set of Gabriel or Monroes. Id buy the cheapest shocks you can find. My F-150 is due for a new set of shocks (it has the factory originals and they have 122,000 miles on them) and Im going to get a set of Gabriels put on it. They cost $20 a piece and are warrantied for life.

you can't go wrong with monroe shocks. As for the oil I'd say check out the motor before you change it to see where it is leaking oil if it isn't then go ahead and go to synthetic.

i have a 98 t myself with 130k miles on it. no leaks. i started using the valvoline high mileage, and love it. my truck feels new, no leaks, and rund great.

i use bilstein shocks, and they seem a little stiff, but ok. i would say go cheap as well. another thing you can do is pick up some sway-a-way torsions, and give the front a lil help.

other things to look into is an aftermarket exhaust and intake. basically a free-er flowing muffler and a cotton-mesh filter like k&n will help tons. thats basically all there is for the 2wd t. its a great truck....enjoy

Yep the fronts are really toast. I could go cheap, but no exaggaration on the bumpiness of the roads we drive around here...
What is a sway-a-way torsions? what does it do?

Thanks,
