Buying a 2000 Tundra access cab 4x4 lmtd

Hey, I'm buying a 2000 Tundra 4wd access lmtd w/ trd. It is single owner and only 57,000 miles. He's asking 13,000. Do you think thats a fair price? It has a shell and is in great condition. Also whats a cheap (under 1000.00) lift kit for it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

One year ago I bought an 2003 tundra limited 4x4 ext cab with a topper for 10,900. It had 150,000 miles, so I may think it is over priced for the year but the mileage it way low. Just be sure to check to see if the previous owner checked the recall for frame rusting.

Also check for the brake issue and for fluid intervals. The main issue with the 2000 models is the transmission. They are known to go at around 75K miles. Mine did. Tore the transmission apart and the OD planetary and sun gears were destroyed. From the looks of it, the cage from one of the needle bearings failed, causing the bearings to lodge themselves in the gear teeth and rendering it useless. Other minor items to check, the antenna mast, check to see if it's loose, there's a TSB for, as well as the O2 sensors. The rear window latch are weak, check to see if those are broken. They are easily replaceable.

No real lift kit available for the 1st Gen Tundies,
BUT you can get Bilstein 5100s and get up to 2.5" lift for around $500.
There is also an OME "kit" that Slee offroad sells for the 1st Gens...New OME coil springs, and OME Nitrocharger shocks.
WheelersOffroad.com has everything you could possibly need for a 5100, or a hybrid 5100/OME lift.
Make sure you also install a diff drop. Wheelers has the best price on those: $24, and only takes about 20 mins to install.

There were also front and rear brake, and lower ball joint TSB/recalls for the 1st Gens. If you ever DO need to replace the transmission, get one from an 03-06...The design was changed for the 03's, and they are much stronger.

The 05-06 models used the A750E/F transmissions. The 00-04 used the A340E/F transmissions. They cannot be interchanged. Unless, you change ECUs, harnesses and possibly the trans-2-engine adaptor. Best bet is to use one from an 04 as it had the better internals. 03's are fine but, there could be a few that missed the cutoff point to have the better internals installed.
