'05 Tundra DC is getting some 32's.
The stock Bridgestone Duelers are shot. I got 23K miles out of them. Granted most of that was city driving but still they sucked for most everything. Plus they were only passenger tires and I was really pushing the limits when towing with a GVW of well over 13K pounds.
New tires are Nitto Terra Grapplers in LT 265/70 R 17 with a Load Range of E. They arrived yesterday from Discount Tire Direct for 160$ each shipped to my door. Going to have my local Toyota dealer mount/balance them and do a 4 wheel alignment. Anyone know how long the batteries last in the tire pressure monitors? This is the Limited and has that feature--part of the reason that I am going to the dealer--figured that these could get messed up. They are in the valve stems. |

The good news was that the lower ball joints were replaced under a recall bulletin...so I did not have to pay for an alignment since this was done anyway with the replacement of the ball joints--score. So it was just mounting and balancing...

I have those same tires on my 96 4Runner. I think you'll like them 'Mogger. I'm personally torn; the load range is just too high for the 4Runner's weight and (frankly) they SUCK in the snow. But I think the extra weight of the Tundra will make these a very nice choice for you. BTW - I have about 15-18K on mine and they are like new. |

I've got over 20k on my Nittos and they are wearing well especially with my hard cornering habits. I have the load range D which is fine for a Runner (load range E is murder) and they do quite well in any wet stuff and have good turn in bite on packed snow and they respond well to braking when the rear end gets a bit loose.

Sorry to hijack this thread but why are load range E tires no good for a 4runner? I just put a set of Dick Cepek FC-IIs on my girlfreainds and I havent seen any problem with them. Just curious
BTW good choice on the Nittos Ive had mine for almost a year and have been very pleased with them |

E load range is way to stiff a sidewall for a truck that's under 5000lbs. Load range e if much heavier vehicles or pickups hauling really heavy loadfs in the bed. E is way overkill on most SUVs. Plus the cost is much more than a D load range.
