03 Sequoia - Cats STOLEN
First off, a warning. Roseville, CA, at my wife's parent's house.
Someone crawled under my rig and cut the cats out. Unfortunately for some crazy reason we only had liability, so insurance doesn't cover it, but at least the 02 sensors are still there. just a 2ft section of pipe is missing on each side. It sounds like 4 harleys, which is cool but a little too much.
I'm trying to throw new ones in, but the guy at the shop is claiming that I need 4 instead of 2 ... Is this legit?? I know that CA needs their own "approved" cats, but I never heard of them needing to double the amount.
Thanks in advance for any insight.

HighLux - good questions. The job keeps me here. Eyes open always though...
Roark - I just talked with Magna Flow and that's what he said - there are 2 converters inside the single unit on each side of the Sequoia. In their "direct fit" replacement, it's built in the same way. In their "universal fit", it is not on the "CA Approved" list, so technically illegal although it would pass the sniffer test but not visual. They are pulling that part because the Air Resource Board in CA does not approve it. In other words (not his), Magnaflow didn't pay the lobbyists enough to keep it in the list.
Well, in any case, let this be a heads up and another reason to get armor underneath your rig.
