What is the most desirable year FJ40?
What is the most desirable year FJ40?
I am currently negotiating for this 1977. The ODO says 72K, but who really knows for sure. I need someone with knowledge beyond mine who can tell me what they would pay for a vehicle like this one:
As far as I can see, there's only superficial rust. The PO is running OME springs and shocks (bonus, right?) PO says that the front seal leaking is a common issue. I can believe that, for a 33 year old vehicle. Holley carb was just rebuilt and the valve cover gasket was replace. PO has the complete gasket set as well.
Seats are shot (minor).
My wife saw this and wants it pretty bad, how lucky can a guy get!

77 is a great year, disc brakes, 2F, etc. What front seal? Engine? Tcase? Valve cover gasket isn't worth bragging about and nothing beats the Asin carb. Holleys are crap. Look closely at the body work, very important, find out where it was done. Have it checked by a CRUISER mechanic. OME is great stuff.
