Too good to be true?

Hmm, an email response from the seller claims all is legit, but if it walks like a duck...

BTW, I've never seen any landscapes like that in MD, have you?

2004 FJ-100 for $14K???

i did a search for Gaithersburg, Maryland, and some of the photos that i found were kinda like that. i've only been to parts of maryland, and not sure where gaithersburg is, but who knows. ask him to take pics of things he doesn't have that would be odd to take pics of and see if he takes one for you if your intrested.

i'd say it's one of few things i have in mind.

1. a super rich & generous person willing to "donate", per se a vehicle to a less fortunate member of society

2. a messed SOB scamming the eBay system.

3. person who is too stupid to use www.kbb.com

4. vehicle with mechanical, electrical issues (but it's a LC... )

i'd say #1 & #3 are highly unlikely. i'm leaning toward #2...

I think the vehicle is in Arizona or New Mexico due to the scenery in the photo. Still, that's way low for a LC unless that's all he owes on it and he's on the Dave Ramsey plan for debt cleanup. If we we'rent trying to buy a house I'd really work on convincing the wife to let me go for it and upgrade.

I call BS...

Why? Until recently, pimpcess whatver their name is has only PURCHASED on Ebay, not sold, according to their feedback... and even then, the last thing purchased was a pair of boots... Now they're selling a $70k luxury vehicle, that is quite obiviously NOT in MD? There is NOTHING in MD that looks like that, esp. w/ that style of home.

SCAM.

Anyone save the picture? Looks like it was shut down on eBay. I live and work in that area so I could go and check it out.

somebody probally stole their user info, then posted pics from another auction. you had to be pre-approved, so the scammer would probally have you wire a deposit to hold it until you arrived, when he'd be nowhere to be found. the actual seller may have got wind of it (either by email requests or by not being able to log on if the perp changed his password) and contacted eBay.

Gaithersburg? How funny.

It's MD's second largest city. Placed about 20 NW of Washington DC, it has easy access to the Potomac river and is about 20 miles from Sugar Loaf Mountain. A case study in urban sprawl, everything is pretty much paved over.

No wheelin' nearby. You would have to go all the way to Paragon to have fun.

I work in Gaithersburg but can't see the pic.

JeepKJ
Must have been an old database you got the info from. Frederick is the 2nd largest city now. But Gaithersburg is nothing but black top and houses.

Are you calling my brain outdated? ;-)

I grew up in what used to be part of Gaithersburg ( Montgomery Villlage ). Moved to St. Mary's for college then headed west.

Haven't lived in MD since early 2001.

My dad has been checking out 55 chevys lately, and found a restored one for a rock bottom low price. So he contacted him, and he wanted him to ship him half, and when he got the vehicle to ship the other have. Well the auction disappeared. So we started researching things. He was posting auctions for a ton of old restored vehicles. The had the same back ground, but were listed all over the world. We sent two of them emails for more info, and we were sent the exactly same story from two different emails. We then responded to both and told them we got the same story from both of them. We never heard word back. My dad reported it to ebay, and they said they would look into it. I think he was hacking ids as well.

On a side note I received an email telling me my email and password change was successful. I contacted ebay, and told them I never changed it. THey responded saying they restored everything. The security seems a little below par with ebay, is it that easy to hack?
