tail lights - i can't decide

my new spare tire carrier covers the tail lights, so i see myself having two options - 4" LEDs in the rear quarter panels or use the original tail lights in the tire carrier. the issue with incorporating it into the tire carrier is that it is sealed tube and cutting it up for the lights would mean rusting from the inside-out.

the part of the tire carrier that would house the tail lights is the same as the bumper in the picture. i'd basically just be moving the lights down into the bumper.

cut the quarter panels or cut the tire carrier. what would YOU do?

I think the second pic looks better. IDK wut it is but i jsut dont like the 4" LEDs they are just really ugly to me.
