Researching mid 80's fj60's

I am interested in knowing what all you fj60 owners get for mileage. I am considering getting a early to mid eighties for a daily driver and because they are bigger than my current 90's 4runner. So if anybody out there has a 84-87 with the inline six in it please post what you are getting. Also I have heard they are always in four wheel drive is this true? Thanks

A stock 60 will get on average 13 - 15mpg. The 60's aren't fulltime 4wd. They have lockable hubs. The 62's ('88-'90) might be fulltime, but I don't think so.

If you're looking at 60's, I would recommend an '85 - '87, if you're the type who likes to tinker with your trucks. Mods and parts are a little easier to do on the later models from my understanding.

I use my '85 as a DD. It's not the most fuel efficient thing on the road but it is one of the most fun vehicles to drive -

That is correct. For an auto you'd have to go to an FJ62. Your girl has good taste. Teach her to drive a stick.
