95 4Runner 5 speed in '85 FJ60?
I recently picked up an 85 LandCruiser FJ60 in amazing condition (for Maine!) Only has 79K on it and a very small amount of surface rust around the fender wells. It is solid axle with the F2 6 cyl gas engine with the 4 speed manual tranny. I also own a 95 4Runner with a blown 22RE in it and 5 speed tranny. I've been reading about people upgrading their early Cruisers with the late model Toyota Cruiser 5 speed but I've never seen anyone talking about putting a 4Runner or truck 5 speed in an older Cruiser. I hear that they are strong enough to handle a Chevy small block 8 or V6 so they must be able to handle the I6 of the Cruiser. My question is. can a 5 speed from a truck or 4Runner be put into an early cruiser and mated to the F2 engine?
