Vapor lock? Is it fuel injected or carb? Is it sparking? Is it getting fuel? Could be a gremlin in the crank circuit on the ignition thats opening up when its warm.

I assume it cranks OK? If the head gasket is leaking collant into a cylinder it can make it hard to start but not impossible when its warm.

A gremlin is referring to a problem that comes and goes. Ignition coils and other electronics can have issues with heat that causes circuits to open up. I would not be suspecting the coil though. Depending on the distrubuter set up, some have 12 volts suppled to the ignition during cranking and then a ballast resistor drops it to about 9 volts during normal running. I don't know how that ignition setup is wired though.

You still have provided very little info about the engine.
