New Toyota Pickup owner!

hey everyone in the yotatech forums!
kind of a new guy in this site and i need some protips
i recently bought a 1990 toyota pickup 2WD with the 22RE engine and some aftermarket shocks and suspension assembly and has 179k miles for $2800 and i love it!
i did my research on it before buying it and it inevitably lead me to this site
i've had the car for about a week now and so far she's running good
i have some questions about my truck since its used. i'm working on all of its major issues and problems this summer. its going to be my project truck.
1. what do i need to start replacing/checking (brakes, fuel filter, oil change etc.)?
2. i did minor checks before i bought the truck
3. how do i adjust my shocks? i have a racerunner (rear) and foxracing (front) installed in my car and i have no idea how to adjust them.
4. should i put a tailgate or not?
5. what's the safest way to clean my engine without damaging some wires and stuff?
6. I need to replace my seats, what are some good options?
i can't think of more right now but as i go on i will be posting pictures of my truck. thanks for your help!

welcome to YT!!
1. I would definitely start with a complete tune up (plugs, wires distributor cap, fuel filter, oil change, etc.)
3.Not sure about the shocks, but im sure someone on here knows
4. Running with no tailgate will give very minor improvements in gas mileage, although i would suggest getting one of those nets that go in place in case you need to haul something.
5. If your talking the outside of the engine, your local parts store should have some engine degreaser spray. for the inside of the engine i would do the sea-foam treatment in your gas, oil, and in your intake (make sure you search that one).

Pontiac Sunfire buckets fit with no mods. They look good and have the shoulder strap retainer is in the perfect place. Its what I got in my 90 pu and they fit like a glove. I am a big guy and they give me plenty of leg and head room. Congrats on you find and welcome to the Yota family.

Are the front shocks coilover? If they are just emulsion or external reservoir shocks, like the rear, the only tuning to be had would be different weight shock oils, valving, and nitrogen pressure. As for no tailgate, I see in the pic of the rear it has support bars, I would recommend leaving those there, I have seen bedsides fold out flat when trucks are launched hard without support. Take one side of a box away and you have no strength.
