Ho ho ho, Santa came early (AR15 upgrades) Glock21SF/Glock 36 too
I was doing a Google search last weekend for a gun shop near me, and I found one just a few miles away down by my Toyota dealership.
I drive by this place daily on my way to work, and I never knew they were there.
http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/index
My AR15 is pretty much stock with the exception of a picatinny rail and a Grip Pod that Jim (the guy I bought my AR from) put on a few years ago.
I have been wanting to have some upgrades to my rifle for awhile now to handle zombies
Here is a list of what I had done today:
1. Viking Tactics Light Mount
It fits my new Surefire G2X Pro 200 lumen light I got awhile back, and also an older Surefire light I have that is 80 lumens.
The 200 lumen one is my camping/work light, so I will probably pick up a new Surefire 200 lumen light for the AR15 at a later date.
2. ERGO Z Rail 2 Piece Drop In - Carbine
The new rail allows the addition of the light mount above, and down the road maybe a combo Surefire laser/light unit I was gawking at today.
3. Magpul CTR - MIL SPEC Stock
I do not really care for the stock that comes on the AR15, I like the tactical stocks.
They just look darn sexy
It is adjustable too, which is a key feature.
4. Armalite M-15 Carbine Buttstock Kit
We did not use the stock that comes with this kit since I am using the Magpul one, but I needed a new buffer tube and the spring to mate the Magpul stock to my AR15.
I also found out that it is perfectly OK to use 223 ammo in a rifle that states on the barrel 5.56 NATO.
I had a feeling I could use the 223, and it is more readily available than the 5.56 ammo I have now.
Also looked at some magnification sights with red dot in them, maybe down the road.
That would be good for target practice.
The upgrades today though really changed the look of my AR15.
I will definitely be shopping there at Rainer Arms in the near future as they specialize in the AR15 and the other clone makes that are on the market.
They have a huge assortment in stock.
First picture is the way the gun looked from a few years back when Jim and I modded it some.
The rest of the pictures are from today.
Set the Surefire light to 200 lumens and turned off the desk lamp.
What you can not see is the white hot center circle at the center of the beam, the camera did not pick it up.
The light is very bright though, my coworkers are very impressed with it when I can light up the side of a building or way up into a tree at work when it is pitch dark out early in the morning.
Yes, we are working when most zombies are still napping after a hard nights feeding frenzy.

Corey- I might have an extra surefire tailcap with the extended pressue switch, will look for it and send it your way if you want it.
Now all you need is a PAS 13 site. It was one piece of equipment I wish I could have kept. It made it night for hitting stuff downrange,no need for flashlights or night vision
and you are correct .223 is the exact same round as 5.56x45 NATO
edit:
have lots of fun
double tapped of course.

What they said earlier
Actually it is a good time to get these before they are banned again, if that ever happens.
They are a great gun, most swat teams use variations of this too.
Big ones, little ones, skinny ones, and fat ones.
Do you watch that new show on AMC called The Walking Dead?
Great new zombie show.
Best mouse on the market IMO for gaming or anything else.
I dropped the wireless a few years back when I built my PC and went with it.
Nice shooter Mike.
Thanks, got it when I built the PC Christmas of 2007.

No extra garbage on the keyboard, and very tactile response from the keys, and you can vary the LED output.
Best keyboard I have owned.
I will probably have this one forever since it is my first, but I will have others too.
Need to add a handgun next, easier to keep in the tent.
That is a nice optic.
One of the ones I looked through yesterday had a night vision switch on it, very cool.
I will be picking up another Surefire later if I stick with the light ring and a flashlight.
But that laser/LED combo I posted above is calling me, and Santa still needs to swing by here again before heading home.
This is the light I had in the ring yesterday.
http://www.surefire.com/G2X-B-BK
Dual 15/200 lumen output with a tailcap switch.
What a bright blinding light on 200 lumens.
To get to the 200 lumen setting though, you must first go to 15 lumens, then push the tailcap again within two seconds.
If I stick with a light, I would just choose a 200 lumen light with only that output.
That laser/LED combo is 170 lumen though, and that is also very bright.
Zombies would have no chance with that combo.

Awesome piece of machinery there Corey, i'm jealous!
Here is my next flash light.
Leapers UTG

Back in September we had an airsoft event over in Easton. One of the guys on my team had this flashlight. I couldn't believe how bright it was.
I love the Surefire's but for the price this flashlight will be my next purchase.
Now all you need is a night vision scope. We have been playing a lot of night games. Those guys with night vision rock!
Plus, zombies mostly come out at night
P.s. How is the back feeling?

I just installed one of these on my airsoft gun...
http://store.magpul.com/product/MAG411/110
So far i am real happy with the slim design and the feel of the AFG.
Your gonna need some Rail Panels also!

That looks like a great light.
Back is doing much better, slight tinge once in awhile.
We have a nice 10 days or more holiday coming up thought to get some rest

I have those rail covers, the rail came with a ton of them.
Not sure if I will put any on yet or not.
Gotta stop off at that store again and get a quick disconnect for my stock and a new sling.
I guess the QD fits into a hole on the new stock for the sling.

I have a few more upgrades that I will post this coming weekend, but in the meantime, I have my eye on the same rifle that Troy and Molly have.
Currently this is the only gun I own right now, but I have my eye on this more "economical" AR.
You can shoot this one all day long for a lot cheaper than the 5.56 or .223 ammo mine takes.
The S&W M&P 15-22 is suppose to be the best small caliber one out right now.
The charging handle works, it is fake like on most other brands.
http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/w...4_757784_image
The one I want is the first one listed at the URL above.
http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/w...layErrorView_Y
It has the MOE stock which is similar to my CTR one but it does not have the friction lock, and the barrel is threaded to accept a flash suppressor or a silencer.
The less expensive ones by S&W do not have a threaded barrel.
I will probably get this early next year.
I can shoot it at a local indoor range, where as my current AR I can not unless I use their special frangible .223 ammo that disintegrates.
There are some very good videos on this unit on YouTube.

brownells and MidwayUSA are the best places to get most of your parts/upgrades, check out there tac-latches for the charging handle, they're about $15, very nice. I got the low profile ones, not the big square looking deal.
Yes, .223 rem and 5.56 nato are the same cartridge as is .308/7.62 nato... there is a slight and I mean slight difference in the chambering between civilian/semi auto guns and military/select fire guns but not enough to matter in most cases.
I have a rainier/mega arms lower that I'm building now, very happy with it (and the $125 price I got!!) Oly arms makes great stuff also IMO, they're local. The blanks are molded in CA and then shipped up here off of exit 116 on I-5 and there they do the milling/assembly.
Get an optic on there and she'll be a beast!! nice setup you got going man. Now go to my website and buy a whole bunch of pouches and kit for it! hahaha
www.amicktactical.com
I just ordered all new webbing/fabric/hardware in black in addition to OD green / Coyote Brown.
Also love the VT light mount, I got one for work and they are the bees knees, eliminate the need for a pressure switch and they're super light.
I make cheap slings too if you want a sling for that beast... she looks good!
