Raceline 17x9.5 Forged Liberator. They are super lightweight and still just as strong. The machining and polishing on them is immaculate. Pretty sure this was the first set in this width.

Well both bad and good news. The transmission/transfer case adapter I've been waiting on got pushed back once again and won't be here by Howiepalooza. I was putting together a Toyota case so I could test out TG's new rear disconnect.

Good news is I canceled the adapter and got an Atlas on order for the 94. Hopefully in time for Memorial Day.

And what about Howiepalooza the last weekend of this month?

First of all, my camera died and I am using my camera phone for now. But it should be cool now since it's more like an instagram filter, right?

I needed to move the cab to a more central location, I didn't like it shoved in the corner. Kind of a pain in the ass when you are by yourself.

Got is somewhat level, now time to bolt up the Atlas. Goes like this: 6.0 LQ9, built TH350, Atlas 3.0.

Rear engine because I want to keep it low and have you ever seen another full body truck with one? Sounds fun! Looks like I will be doing a serious amount of cab trimming. I want it up a lot higher and forward a few more inches.

Trail 9 housing's front and rear, flipped. The rear will be offset, front will be centered.

40" Tires/wheels from another build for mock up. Looking at 2" from full compression, 66"F, 65"R full width, 110" wheelbase. With factory sheet metal, should look like it fits just right in the wheel wells. I plan on running full sheet metal with the exception of trimmed fenders and bobbed bed. And just keep pounding out dents as I acquire them.

Got it all above the framerails. Flat belly. Need to figure out the rear frame area and motor mounts next. Not sure how I want to do it yet.

Well this morning sucked, I keep shooting down ways to build the trans/crossmember/skid area. I can't wait to get past this point since it's pretty much the base for everything else.

It's so much more of a PITA to work around factory sheet metal but for some reason I keep doing it. Sometimes I think about taking the easy route and just building a tube chassis but in the end I don't think I would be totally happy with it. I guess I just like to torture myself, lol. This one is going to be fun and almost a DD for me.

Not much picture worthy progress. I've been sick, then my daughter was sick, then Alison got some sort of completely different sick. Plus the holiday shuffle.

Anyways, I got a few tubes in and lots of planning. I have pretty much everything from windshield back planned out, just need to get the steel cut and welds on it. Suspension is all figured out, I need to get the rear housing built with a longer driver side tube before I can get it together.

Plan right now is to get the motor/trans/t-case all mounted up, rear tube work done, then move to the front while I'm waiting on the rear housing.

What an amazingly cool build. I love the flipped drivetrain, and if you're going to end up streetlegal and comfy enough to DD, even better!

Made some progress tonight, rear main structure is done. Upper shock mounts go in the corner of that tube intersection. Fan cooled trans and steering coolers go on that hoop above the axle. Radiator with dual fans goes above that. Spare tire above all the cooling stuff helps keep all the big chunks of mud off that can't be avoided.

Motor and drivetrain subframe/mounts up next. It will all drop out the bottom as one unit.

Lots of set backs this last week, mostly stuff unrelated to the build. The tube I had coming for the subrame was the wrong size so couldn't get that done today. But I did manage to get the motor bushing tabs in place and some more tube tacked on.

Finally, motor is in place. It's offset to the driver side 2" in order to make room for the passenger seat. Otherwise the shift linkage would be inside the seat. Bottom of the subrame tube is 2" lower than the bottom of the Toyota frame rails.

I seem to dent .120 DOM on my roof so I thought I better step it up some on the bottom. 1.75x.188 wall on the subrame and 2x.250 going to the motor side mounts.

There will be another set of legs and bushings by the torque converter somewhere, depends where my lower link mounts end up. The carrier bearing for the rear driveshaft will also mount there. There will be a few more tubes added to gusset things. Oil pan will get swapped and not be hanging down. The entire bottom frame rail to frame rail will be skinned with UMHW.

Not sure how the front is getting finished off yet until I get the front lower link mounts in place.
