I tore the stereo out a couple days ago. It has three CD's loaded, and two were misaligned. I moved them back into the correct position, but noticed a couple things rattling around in the head unit. I turned it over, then two pins and a broken piece of plastic fell out. I reinstalled the unit, but the CD changer is still inoperable. I'm not going to waste any more time trying to fix it, since there are some parts broken inside. I'll just live with the AM/FM function for a while, until I can get a nice aftermarket replacement. I have always loved Alpine head units, and I look forward to having one again in the future.
Today I decided to try to polish the paint out a bit. I bought a Turtle Wax Black Box, which I've heard works wonders on black vehicles. It's a two stage cleaning and wax process, with some spray detailer included.
The paint was a little hazy, especially on the roof and fender flares. After a good bath, and drying it off, I went to work. The cleaner goes on like a liquid wax, but is not applied in a circular motion, rather side to side so it won't create swirls. After it got a little hazy, I used the spray detailer and a micro fiber towel to buff it off. Once all the body panels were cleaned, I repeated the process with the Carnuba wax supplied. The whole job took about 3.5 hours. I think it turned out pretty good.
Some after shots...
I also used some Mother's Back to Black on the plastic and rubber trim pieces.
After getting up close and personal with the Sequoia, I would say that it was caught in a pretty good hail storm in it's past. There are small dents, in places that would be pretty hard to get to otherwise. It doesn't bother me much, since I got a fantastic deal on this Sequoia, and it's going on 11 years old.
Still shopping for wheels and/or tires.

I picked up some wheels over the weekend. They are off a 4th gen 4Runner, and powdercoated black. They have been used on the trail, so they have some rash, but no big deal. I got the tires mounted up, and am waiting on some 1.25" spacers to mount them up. They have about an inch more backspacing than the stock wheels. The tires are 275/70R17, which are roughly an inch taller than stock. More pics to come...

I got the wheels installed tonight, after work. The spacers worked perfectly. I'll pull the wheels back off tomorrow, after the drive to work and back, to re-torque the spacers. I know a lot of guys that use them, but they still make me a little nervous. I don't really want my wheels falling off.
I love the look, all black, but I kind of feel like a poser, since everyone and their brother has black on black SUV's. Oh well, the price was right on the wheels, and at least they aren't 22's.
I will be ordering a leveling kit for the front suspension, to make a little more room for the larger tires. Then...the brake upgrades.

Yeah, I know. It does need a little work, though. The brakes are pretty worn, the tires were bald, the shifter needs to be repaired, the broken tailgate handle, and there are a few cosmetic blems. Otherwise, it runs and drives great.
Still an awesome deal.

I paid $10,300 for my 03 with 145000 miles. But it had a absolutely perfect interior, every option available, an extensive service history with everything done by the Toyota dealer, new tires, new brake pads, and the outside is pretty decent. Oh and the engine bay looked like the truck was brand new. All it needed was some sway bar links which I installed myself to $30. Overall I'm pretty happy with it. Just need to lift it, get some new rims, 35 inch tires, and a bull bar and ill be satisfied with it

I replaced the broken column shift mechanism, after work tonight. It was easier than I thought it would be. I read a couple write-ups on 'tundrasolutions', where the steering column needed to be removed from the vehicle, but I was able to repair mine with it still in place. Saved a lot of time. It shifts nicely now, and doesn't have that 'I just got stolen' look, since the covers are all back in place.
I have some new plans for the near future. My Dad has fallen in love with the Sequoia, since I got it. He's been wanting to sell his Dodge, for a while now, so he could get an SUV big enough to haul a few of the Grandkids around. So, I am trading him for his truck. I will be selling it, then buying another 'Yota. Hopefully the truck will sell quick, 'cause I'm ready to get back out on the trails!

Nice Sequoia! All black looks awesome. I have black wheels also on mine. I also found taking the running boards off helped the look a lot. Guess I need to post pics..
