Mauzer's 2002 4Runner Build-Up Thread

Ok so I guess its time to start a build thread now that I've actually started "building" my runner...

The goal is a DD 4Runner that can handle "moderate" wheeling and camping on the weekends

Specs:
-2002 SR5 4x4
-Auto
-3.4l V6

I searched for 8 months and had to drive 5 hours to pick it up, yes I am that picky! Here is the only pic I have of it after I brought it home, I pulled into the driveway and got straight to work removing the running boards and inspecting the undercarriage...

I added some TRD stickers for some extra horsepower

I bought it in October of 09 so that Christmas I had a LoadWarrior under the tree, opened and "installed" in under an hour (had to wait for the rest of the family to finish opening presents)
Click the image to open in full size.
Picked up the spare tire carrier a bit later but no need to show that pic...

Installed a new HU:
Click the image to open in full size.

I replaced the radiator with a new KOYO to prevent milkshake and b/c I had a very small coolant leak:
Click the image to open in full size.

Then after I decided on Tundra coils in the front and LC coils in the rear I slowly started buying parts and eventually had everything I needed for the lift:

Parts used:
• Rear Bilsteins (F4-BE5-A014-H7)
• LC Coils
• Front Tundra TRD coils (48131-AF090,48131-AF100)
• Front adj Bilsteins (BE5-6929-H0)
• Tundra coil isolator
• Toytec panhard drop bracket
• Toytec Diff Drop
• Toytec SS Ext brakelines
• Ext bumpstops (fabbed)
• 2nd gen rear stabilizer links

I scored 3 285 Cooper STT's and a full size spare:

Installed my Cobra 19DX iii w/ PA speaker under the hood
Click the image to open in full size.
48" Firestik is currently mounted using a Firestik hood channel mount (probably going to move to the rear or mag mount, not sure yet)

Had a local Toyota obsessed friend help me install the front but we didn't have time to do the rear so I drove around for 2 days with a mean bro rake:
Click the image to open in full size.

I installed the rear lifted and got an alignment and here is how it sits today:
Click the image to open in full size.
Oh yeah and sometime along the way I installed a 1.5" 4crawler lift but I didn't take pics

I'm working on the 4th STT (found one used on ih8mud, just need to get it shipped to me) and then I will get them all mounted.

P.S. Yes that is my old 85 CJ-7 in the background of some of the pics, I use to have the Jeep thing but my Yota has cured it

Looks great, it'll look even better when you fill those wheel wells up with rubber. Are those last pic's w/the body lift? It looks suprisingly high for just tundra/LC coils...or maybe it's just the small tires.

Yeah thats w/ the body lift, I think its a combo of the small tires and the bl, now I'm running 285's and it makes them look small too...need to step up to 315's

Heck yeah, 4 yoters "modded" (you bet I'm counting the sticker we put on your wife's Runner) and lots of cold beer, definitely a good day

dude, those were some sweet runnin' boards, can't believe you took them off!!

just kidding, mine are STILL on and I despise them but my kid uses them to get in and out so I've left 'em for now. I went over to my buddy's house for dinner a few weeks ago and he said "pull that thing in the shop and we'll drop those running boards" hahaha

you've got a perfect "TAV" - Trail Aproach Vehicle - which is really about 95% of what mine are anyway. some light wheeling and finding an awesome campsite or getting to the trailhead.... of course still capable offroad though.

sweet rig, now turbo or SC it!!

I have a toytec diff drop installed, I tore the inner cv boot wheeling on the beach when after I first lifted it but I have since replaced it but besides that no grease seepage.

This is why you need to use a relocation bracket or longer end links with LC coils
Click the image to open in full size.
"Busted" a rear end link on a fun run this weekend (somehow just lost the top bushing?)

So I ghetto fab'd it with an old shock bushing till I can put the 2nd Gen endlinks on there.
