I've got those eagle eyes sitting in my cart on Amazon, thinking they'd be good for the cargo area and a few other spots. Looks nice and bright under there, will be interested in seeing how they hold up for you.
The fridge shelf looks good too, I like the bracket idea.

I have been covered up with life lately and haven't had a chance to update anything, that said nothing to really update, the runner did fantastic the last trip out, I am really happy with how all the new parts seemed to be working. No more odd clunks and bangs. I have a couple more projects getting ready to take place and I will be sure to post up about them soon.
Still doing the podcast and right now that's my main attachment to the Toyota community, check us out if you get a chance.

We the last couple times I've driven the old truck I've been catching a whiff of burnt oil, I'm guessing valve cover gaskets since I'm sure they are still the original ones. I'll be getting those ordered up along with the spark plug seals and maybe a few other things.
I recently entered an event called "The Tennessee Red Clay Rally", its a timed competition style event consisting of about 80% off road miles in 500 mile competition, that said there is going to be a lot of maintenance done between now and June, as well as a few additions to the runner hopefully so stay tuned.

And Hab I hope to be able too give out some info on the bumper situation very very soon.

The Red Clay Rally sounds like fun. Get lots of blurry pics from your co-driver, you know, since you'll be slowly whizzing by things, if you get to have a co-driver. I have not seen an SUV/Truck rally before, just the zoomy kind.

Checking clearance while you're into the VC job too? Here's to them all being in spec.

This rally is a slow speed kind of thing, you have to stay within timed parameters from point to point while finding your way with a very basic map. Average speed over the whole 500 miles is 20 mph and that includes the sections of high way.
I'm going to be checking into setting the valves and anything else that might be a good idea to do while I'm at it.

So I've been putting together a list of things I want/need to get done with the old girl. I figured I would post it up here so those that follow this can help shame me into getting it done.
I mentioned before about the valve cover gaskets so they are on the list. I also have a pulley howl that I had really thought was fixed a couple different times, the only things left are the fan pulley and power steering pump so I hope to dig into that. I also have a lot of wiring that has been "temporary" for several years that I want to get cleaned up, this will mean adding an auxiliary fuse box among other things. I was given a new antenna mount for my CB antenna which means I can finally relocate my "temporarily mounted" 2 meter antenna (are you seeing a theme here). I also need to fix my horn, front marker lights, tail light and a few other things. And now to the fun stuff, I'm still working on the new bumpers, sliders and roof rack but it's honestly slow going but they are going to happen. I'm also looking into some kind of On Board Air, either mounting my CO2 set up or investing in a compressor.
Little projects like figuring out something to cover my drawer/shelf system so the interior might stop smelling like a lumber yard.
There will be more added as I go along I'm sure, most of this stuff will be inexpensive so it will be more about me getting off my lazy butt and doing, so let the guilting begin lol.

Well I finally got a chance to get started on a few things, had to change the order of things a little, the last couple of times I've tried starting the old girl I've had a dead battery, even left me stranded at Walmart a few weeks ago .
So today I pulled the cables and put the charger on and let that sit, because I suffer from ADD I decided next I should change my C.B. and Ham antennas around and move them to their new locations, the Ham antenna was mounted on the back of the hood over a year ago and was only supposed to be temporary.

A while back I grabbed a antenna mount that my buddy Corey at INSAIN Fab makes, he sells them through ToyTec.

I moved my C.B. antenna to the driver side, and then repurposed my old Bracket for my Ham antenna.

In rerouting the coax I stumbled across something a little disturbing, I knew this truck had been wrecked before I bought it, and over the years I've discovered different things that weren't quite right, well nothing as bad as what I found today.




The entire A and B pillars have been replaced, and whoever did it, should have paid more attention in auto body class, this is not how you fix stuff, I'm going to leave it alone, it would be far more work and expensive than it's worth for this truck but ugh.
I also started rerouting and cleaning up some wiring etc.
Later in the day I pulled the battery and took it to have tested, they said it tested good so now I get to figure out what keeps draining it. More on that later.

I'm thinking it had to be, like I said I knew it had been wrecked and bad enough to have a rebuilt/salvage title, but I'm over time just finding more and more damage.

A friend of mine was looking at a Tacoma and we found where they had replaced the top part of the cab similar to your experience. Surprisingly how so much damage can happen to these trucks that they will go thru the expense of top replacement to keep them on the road. Most other would get totaled.
