AR-23 wheels on a '02-'04 Tacoma?

I've searched and found a few runners with them and a couple of older tacos.
I know of someone running them on an '02, but I don't know if they had to grind or run spacers.
I'm looking at the 23-5883 (15x8,3.75bs) on a '04 Tacoma with 32x11.5 BFG MT's.

Thanks,
Mike

*** PLEASE read on for more Tacoma wheel and caliper info ***

did your taco come w/ 16" wheels? I thought the newer ones came w/ factory w/ 16's to accomodate for the larger brake caliper (not sure so I'm asking). If that's the case then you wouldn't be able to fit 15's.

I have a 4th gen and have the 16x8 4.5BS and it fits fine so if you can't fit 15's look into the 16's w/ the 4.5bs

GOod luck

As far as I know....
The 2002 Tacoma and the 2004 Tacoma have the same calipers. Like I said, I know of one person running AR-23's on an '02, and I don't think they ground the calipers or used spacers.
I'm just trying to get a second opinion.

drop by one of the tire shops and have them test fit one. that'll be the best way.

or cross post on ttora's forum too as they'll prob know for sure.

good luck

If so, please reply with the wheel make and model, size, what year Taco, and whether or not you had to grind, or use spacers.
Thanks!

Hate to tell ya, but I've been going around and around with TTORA. They (the members) either don't know jack, or aren't telling anyone what they do know. Quite un-cooperative...
I've searched the ENTIRE site and came up with my own list that's very incomplete, and have a post there now asking for info so I can fill some holes in order to update my list with good info. I'd be happy to publish the list here if anyone is interested.
In the mean time...if anyone here has PERSONAL experience relative to 15 inch wheels on a '02-04 Tacoma, many people will be greatly appreciative!
Oh...and as far as the tire shops are concerned....
Most (actually, ALL in my area) do NOT stock wheels. Period. You have to order whatever set or setS you want. And you have to pay the shipping on ALL the sets regardless of which set you buy. That said, 4wheelparts, so far, has been the best to deal with. They at least, stock SOME wheels, and will work wih me on test fitting. Beware!!! Some manufacturers, American Racing being one of them, DO NOT allow their resellers to "test fit" ANY of their wheels. If they don't have THAT wheel in THAT size as being an application for YOUR vehicle and you buy THAT wheel and put it on your vehicle...you void the warranty.
Just an FYI.
As far as I'm concerned, they can take the warranty and shove it you know where.

AR-23 part number# 23-5883: 15x8 -19mm offset 3.75" backspacing
AE-1189 part number# 1189-5866: 15x8 -18mm offset 3.75" backspacing

based on these two specs, I would think that it would fit since you know that the AE-1189's fit right? clearly looking at the offset, it's only off by 1mm which is very minimal at best. I'd say based on this information. if you really want some real world testing, go have one test fit (it's free at discount tire/america tire).

the likelihood that anyone here will have this info is slim since you've already asked ttora. i checked your post on there and it looks like slim pickins on the response you got.

good luck

Yeah, Intrepid, that's the one of a few that I started and still maintain.
Just looking for additional comments.
Thanks.
And Good Times...I appreciate the reply, but I've done all that research. I know it comes down to test fit, but I don't have any shops within 50 miles of me that will (except for 4wheelparts in Jacksonville). And even then, it's ONLY with wheels they have in stock or a local warehouse.
I guess that's what I'll have to do.
Thanks anyway... maybe someone with personal experience will chime in here.

Oops, didn't even look at the name on that, just remembered seeing it and figured I would toss it out there. My bad

Talking

They said that the 00-04 calipers are the same. I'm running 15x8 with 3.75bs rockcrawler steelies on my 2000 tacoma. No grinding needed. Some people do, some people don't.. you really don't know until you put the wheels on.

Simple request...

One more thought.

After compiling the list of Tacoma calipers it was clear to me why a particular wheel will fit one 2002 Tacoma and not another 2002 Tacoma, since a 2002 4WD V6 xtracab uses a different caliper than a 2002 2WD V6 xtracab or a 2002 2WD I4(2R) xtracab.

IF people will simply post their aftermarket wheel info(I don't care what they are):
-Brand
-Model (if you know it)
-Size
-Backspacing
-Tacoma year,engine,drive,cab.
And if they had to grind or use spacers.

Then I can create a list that will help people pick their wheel and hopefully not have to ask.

I really don't think I'm asking that much. Especially since everyone is so sick and tired of answering, what seems to be, the same 15" wheel question(s) over and over again.

FWIW, I have a pretty good list going, but I didn't want to post it until it's more complete.
