Yet another DRL question.
This is my problem. My wifes '01 Runner's DRL's will not turn off. I did the search, found the tech article about how to disable them, still will not turn off. Can someone else shed some light on this matter? I am at my wits end right now trying to figure what the hell is wrong with these damn lights. Just wish this thing was as simple as my '83 Toyota Truck.
Thanks in advance.

Are you refering to the a heat sink looking thing menitoned by some other members in other posts? Otherwise can you be more specific? Maybe a pic of the box you are talking about.
Thanks

That connector is not on '01's. That was a change for the '01 model year. Wish it was that easy. I have already tried the tech article thing with no luck, lights are still on and will not go out unless I pull the fuse. The problem with that is now I have no headlights at all with the fuse out.
Thanks for the input though.

The TSB does only mention up to '00, however I read on another post after doing my search, as well as reading posts by ducky that the "pin pulling" is what has to be done to a '01 to diable the DRL's. Just did not work for my situation. Looks like I'm off to the stealership on Tuesday for a diagnosis.
Thanks

I was just looking under my dash to try to find the alarm antenna, looked at a grey box that I had always thought was the keyless entry, well i get a mirror and look at the writing, and it says daytime running lights. Look under your dash, and near the center console there will be a grey box with a rectangle connector out the back, disconnect that harness, and see if the drls work. good luck!

Turns out it was the alarm module. Installed prior to us purchasing the truck. Unfortuanately this is a unique system to the Gulf States Region of Toyota. Any input on this subject? Any alarm gurus?
