wrecked.....

so iwrecked my truck and was wondering what you guysthought.

the total was 9600 dollars in repair to the front end....newupper control arm and every new body panel onthe drivers front including a new running board. The front suspension was also fouled up......
so my question is: do you think the car isworth keeping? will i still be able to sell itfor close to the 26000 blue book value? ifi keep it will it drive the same?

thanksin advance for all the help.

Not to be negative, but you asked. It will not sell for anywhere near $26,000 after being wrecked, and you'd probably have a real hard time selling it for that without being wrecked.

Ditto Raven

Talk to your Toyota dealer and get them to have their body shop look at it. If your insurance company wants you to take it to their body shop, fight them. You want it fixed right since you'll probably be driving it a few more years.

A Toyota body shop will be more likely to use Toyota body parts and put it back into good shape.

Good Luck

Get it fixed and get a hood scoop in the process. Keep it all the way.

Hey if you need the stock fan and shroud I have 2 sets of them. Let me know. That will knock some money off the repair costs (which you can then put towards the hood)

Since your asking opinions...It's been said before...26k is a major stretch, not wrecked. If the insurance will pay you that to total it. I'd take it and buy another one for about 19k, and trick it out.
I have to disagree with thinking the body shop at the dealership, (which isn't always on site) will always do the job right. I have personal experience with dealership body shops, and let me tell you they're are a flip of a coin just like the rest. If you're going to fix it, I'd go around and basically interview the shops. Look at previous work, etc. My buddy to his S2000 to a body shop that is certified to work on ferrari's. Simply because if the were certified by ferrari as a place to take your ferrari for body work they had to be good. Now they were more, but you have to make you case as to why you believe they can get it back to your standards. My buddy found two pieces of trash in the paint...basically imperfections. They were hard to find but they were there. He filed a depreciation of value claim as well, because there was no way he could get market value for it after it had been wrecked. They gave him an extra $1700.00 for that. So basically the moral of this story is...the squeaky wheel gets the oil. B!tch your ars off and you'll get what you want. Personally, if they're going to give you the 26k, I'd walk. If you take it to a local dealer assuming they will do a good job, you might end up having them repainting it twice like I had to, but then again you may not. It's all a crap shoot.

Why would they total it for $26K when he already said it had $9600 in damage?

Because if the damage is over a certain percentage of the value they just total it and give you fair market value. In this case "IF" it was 26k, that would be what they give him, and the truck is totalled. I doubt it's 26k but who knows.

Wrecked

Just fix it and drive. There is no way in hell that you will get 26K for it. As for that blue book, you can throw that damned thing right out the window it is worthless. As for the repair, I would advise you to take it to the service center the Insurance wants you to. This way if there are any problem they are liable and not some other place you decided to take it to.

Furthermore, get the Sr. claims adjusters name at your insurance company and if you run into any problems insist on speaking and dealing only with them. Sr. claims adjusters have a higher amount of money to play with and also don't have to consult anyone before doing repairs or paying out a claim. Trust me on this one, it is a pain to get to the Sr. claims adjuster but once you do it is well worth it. He can also authorize more for your rig.

the insurance company will always advise you to take it to a "certified by them" shop. the reason they do this is to save themselves money, they are in no way doing you a favor.

the insurance company either 1. owns the shop, or 2. has a contract with the shop. what does this mean to you? the insurance company will tell the body shop to do it as cheaply as possible (using cheap tiawan parts, junk yard parts, etc....)

the body shop will do this because they get a cut of the pie and it means consistant business from the insurance company if they play along.

by all means check around, talk to multiple shops, sk them what kind of parts they use and tell them you want OEM parts. period.

Good I for one am glad to see that all those high, too high rates are going to good use! Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for the other "guys". I have 3 cars and get it stuck to me every month, and the one time I have an accident that's not even my fault I have to play hell trying to make my claim!!! Bottom line: insurance companies are whores, period.

insurance companies suck ass. I pay 5000 dollars a year in insurance for my new 4runner talk about bull˟˟˟˟. That price is also with like 8 premium reductions like defensive driving, good student, all the safety fetures. There subtract a good 3 grand off what i should be paying (like close to 7-8 grand a year) if i had no reductions.

Oh also ive never been in an accident, no speeding tickets, and im 23.

BULL˟˟˟˟
